Using Code 49's Pad with Garageband

I'm using Code-49 with Mac mini and Garageband.
How can I use Pads??
They are not lit up and no response.
I searched and I've found out there's no driver for Mac.
Keyboard and key octave buttons are working fine,
other buttons are lit up but aren't working through.

I understand Garageband doesn't have MIDI mapping features.

Any ideas would be great
And sorry for my broken English :(

  • Hey Loger Sam,

    Thanks for posting!

The Code series is class compliant meaning you will not have to manually install a driver to use it properly - it uses drivers that are already on your computer so no worries there.

Unless you have specifically set them to not illuminate, the Code's pads should be illuminated when you connect the controller. Let's test your Code to verify whether it is sending MIDI data properly to the computer from the pads and buttons.

    For testing on Mac:
    snoize: MIDI Monitor

Are you able to send MIDI data from the Code's keybed, pads, and controls to your computer?

    Let me know!

  • I really appriciate your reply!

As you suggested, I checked whether it is sending MIDI data properly to the computer using snoize: MIDI Monitor.

It seems sending MIDI data properly except Code's pads.

    No response from Pads.

    Thank you

  • Thanks for testing that! If the pads are not responsive, we should test the connection to the computer to verify that this is not derived from the connection itself. Try connecting the Code with a different USB cable and with different USB ports on your computer. If the pads are still not responsive, it sounds like this is hardware related and the Code may require service. Warranty and non-warranty claims cannot be handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
