Oxygen 25 MKIII - Velocity randomly changing

The velocity on my Oxygen 25 (3rd Gen) constantly changes, going up and then down. This is not program specific as it will happen if no program is open and the velocity numbers change on the keyboards display. What could be causing this, and how do I stop it?

    Hi Joseph,

    Thanks for posting.

For an accurate test of velocity, please test with a MIDI monitor:

    Windows: MIDI-OX

Open MIDI-OX with all other programs closed. In the Options>MIDI Devices section, select your controller ports from the MIDI Input menu. Click OK.
Now MIDI-OX will simply list all incoming MIDI messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

    Mac: MIDI Monitor

Open MIDI Monitor with all other programs closed. In the "Sources" section, check the boxes for your controller's ports.
Now MIDI Monitor will list all incoming MIDI Messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

The Data 2 field should display the velocity value based on how hard/fast the key is pressed.

I don't believe the display on the Oxygen should be showing you any velocity data, so you may just be reading something else. Maybe it would help if you described the problem you are experiencing.

Let me know how this goes!

  • Thanks Corey, and apologies for the late reply.

I've tested the keyboard with MIDI monitor and you're right, it's not the velocity. I assumed it was the velocity because the volume of the input decreases.

Using MIDI monitor I found that that all dials, keys and controllers work (except for C9, for some reason). However, after taking each dial from 0 to 127 then back to 0. Some controllers would continue to send a signal after use - the most common being C8/Chorus Send Level.

Playing around in Logic, the display on the Oxygen would present a number which would gradually reduce to 0. Power cycling the device seems to reset something, but usually the problem comes back in a few minutes.

I'm a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, so if I can clarify anything with videos or screenshots let me know.
