What's Wrong? Trigger Finger Pro Not Outputting Audio in Arsenal via AIRDrums

Hi. I'm on a 8 GB, i7 PC running Win 7 Service Pack 1 with Trigger Finger Pro, and can't get AirDrums sound to output at Arsenal's output meters nor do I hear any audio when accessing AirDrums?

1. I don't get "Trigger Finger Pro MIDI" as an option showing up in the I/O SETTINGS panel, but rather, I only see "Trigger Finger Pro". Can anyone recommend a fix?

2. How does one troubleshoot so as to finally get AIRDrums audio at Arsenal's stereo output meters? See my settings in Arsenal here:

  • Well, I'm half-way there. As it turns out, I needed to go to M-Audio's site and download and install on my PC, the Trigger_Finger_Pro_Driver_1.0.8

Now I can see the Active MIDI Input Options:
    Trigger Finger Pro MIDI and
    Trigger Finger Pro Mackie
in the Audio/MIDI I/O Settings panel.
    Whew!

Now, if I can get AIRDrums to output Audio to Arsenal while it's playing, so I can hear it, I'd be fine. Any ideas?

  • Hi TFP Noob,

    Thanks for the post.

Does the Test button work in the settings menu?

  • Thanks for asking, but TEST button always works. I'm having serious doubts that the Trigger Finger Pro install properly placed AIRDrums in the right folders on my 64-bit Windows PC. Here's why:

I notice also that I've never ever seen an audio sample's waveform within AIRDrums.

Seems odd that Hybrid 3 behaves just fine but AIRdDrums is stubbornly unwilling to load audio properly. No wonder there's no sound output from it to Arsenal!

The pads flicker to some designed programming in Arsenal and on the TFP hardware but no evidence of audio residing in AIRDrums.

Any ideas for checking the integrity of AIRDrums install?

AIRDrums is working now, providing audio playback via Arsenal on this Windows PC, with this workaround:

    1. switch on Trigger Finger Pro unit.
    2. Run Arsenal as an Administrator User. Here's how:

Right-Click on Arsenal Program Start file, or its Shortcut, then select
"Run as Administrator" from the context menu that pops up.

After doing so, audio waveforms load properly into AIRDrums, which then successfully outputs audio to Arsenal, and to the soundcard

    PROBLEM MORE ACCURATELY DESCRIBED:
Since initial use of Trigger Finger Pro, and Hybrid plus AIRDrums within Arsenal, I'd been unable to load AIRDrums patches fully -- NO waveform would show up in AIRDrums' waveform edit window.

Absolutely no sound was the result, because although AIRDrums' and also Arsenal's 16 virtual pads illumination "danced" to the data from the selected patch playback from the TFP hardware sequencer playing, AIRDrums was not sending audio out to Arsenal.

POSSIBLE CAUSE: Installation Error by User
Apparently, I instantiated an install of some portions of the TFP suite of software as this Windows PC Administrator account User -- but then also installed some other components of TFP as a Non-Administrator Account User.

How was that mistake likely on this Windows PC?
By right-clicking on a Setup/.exe file, and selecting "Run as Administrator" on some install files -- and by not doing so (just double-clicking) on some other Setup/.exe files in the Trigger Finger Pro package. Unfortunately, I am not absolutely sure, but that's my suspicion for now

    Plus...
Since I uninstalled Trigger Finger Pro software, using Trigger Finger Pro's Uninstall icon in its Programs folder, then re-installed Trigger Finger Pro, without using Windows Uninstall routine, I may have made the installation even *more* unreliable.

CLEANEST SOLUTION may be to uninstall everything, then install again, for a 3rd time, after reformatting Windows system Drive (all at the risk of having to experience a wait, in hearing from SONiVOX after contacting them to personally get permission for Hybrid 3 authorizing for a 3rd time (as only 2 instances are allowed without their intervention).

    REMAINING QUESTION:
Either way, whenever I launch Arsenal, I need to right-click, and select
Run As Administrator -- any PC techie able to suggest how I might go about fixing this?

    Ideas welcome, and thanks.

    Hey there...

If you right click the icon (don't left click) and select "Properties". Now at the top you should see a Compatibility Tab. Click it.

At the very bottom, put a check box under the "Privilege Level" "Run this as an administrator" an dclick the apply botton.

This will prevent you from having to always right -click and run as a admin.

Now it will do it for you automactically.

    Take care,
