Will M-Audio reveal a new 2019 Trigger Finger Pro

Question #1: Are there any rumors that there will be a 2019 replacement for the Trigger Finger Pro line?

2019 NAM is right around the corner, so does anyone have a hint, or should I spend my money now?

Question #2: Why did they quit producing the Trigger Finger Pro? I under stand it had some problems, but was it a total Lemon? I am still shopping for the right controller without spending a fortune...

Don't support it! With the lack of interest in fixing the TFP what makes you think the treatment of new hardware will be different. If I remember correctly the company went through a shift which had a lot to do with the failure of the TFP.

M-audio does great midi keyboards ive been using m-audio since the early 2000's and when they said the TFP was about to drop i purchased it with hopes in mastering it. Hmm where should i start No song mode!z you cant sequence a whole song you have to build it in your DAW, unfunctional pads down right down to the latency issues left a sour taste in my mouth. I wont purchase a new tfp unless its 3 or 4 year down the road when all the bugs are fixed I wont make the same mistake.

So to answer your question it was not a total lemon it was more like a unripened orange. It had sooooooo much potential.

I was soo ready to put everything into the tfp even made a youtube channel based on it. Im still upset about my 2014 purchase.

  • Hey Ned,

    Thanks for posting!

Nothing to my knowledge but I suppose time will tell.

I can't really speak to the issues that reg has had. The TFP is effectively a MIDI pad controller with a built in sequencer, similar in some ways to the Akai Pro MPD232.

This controller only sends MIDI data out - it does not process audio. Anything with regard to latency is going to be relative to the audio driver you're using on computer in some way. If you are synchronizing the hardware to your DAW, it will depend on the clock that the software is sending to retrigger notes. In my own experience, I've used the TFP extensively to sequence MIDI events (mainly with Logic and Ableton Live) with success. I've also used the TFP's internal clock to sequence drum machines over MIDI DIN without roadblocks.

Like any product, it has its quirks. Lack of a song mode could be an issue depending on your workflow. I've never had an issue with the TFP's pads not functioning - if you're experiencing that it sounds like it is relative to that specific hardware itself. In its day, this controller was marketed with the Arsenal software so it's possible that the software never really caught - I'm not sure to be honest. It's older hardware but in my opinion, still absolutely capable hardware. If it looks like its going to fit in with your workflow, give it a shot! Or wait a couple weeks for NAMM - it is, after all, right around the corner.

@reg - If you've still got the TFP, I would encourage you to reach out to our support team so we can help you take a closer look at what might be going on with your hardware. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the M-Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu. This will not require a support code.

    or

    • For faster support, call or email your nearest Support Office or International Distributor. Select your country to find the nearest office.

Make sure to reference or link to this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
