Did you migrate settings to this machine from another machine or older OSX version ?

Something similar was reported by another user via email, why you did not find the answer at http://getsatisfaction.com/magicprefs/ , please also make a topic there so we can have public information on this.

He was able to fix a similar issue caused by preferences migration by turning bluetooth off, deleting
/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.XXXXXXXXX.plist
/Users/XXXXXX/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.XXXXXXXXX.plist
/Users/XXXXXX/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Then restarting and removing/re-pairing with the devices.

This is how it looked for him:

Additionally Apple's Bluetooth Explorer.app that comes with Xcode has a extensive array of options for resetting bluetooth settings.

Wohooo - solved it !!!
In Lion you have to delete the 'com.apple.Bluetooth.XXXXXXXXX.plist' from Macintosh HD>library>preferences - not user directory see this link:

Magicprefs up'nrunning, thank you once again Vlad !
