I love the idea of memverse, but accessing the website on a mobile device is somewhat cumbersome. Any plans to develop a smartphone app (particularly android) that would allow for easier review of verses when away from a computer?

Sounds like a great way to increase use, if it works.

We will probably implement a version of the website that is sized for viewing on a mobile device, rather than implementing a full app. But we're still thinking about the best path. Getting onto the app development treadmill could end up spreading our resources fairly thinly.

Persionally, I'd prefer a version sized for a mobile device rather than an full application. With just a different size, it would be easier to access than an app. (You can probably tell I'm biased - my phone's not an Android!)

Either way, though, I love the idea of accessing Memverse from a phone and I hope you find some way to implement it!

Yep. We're working on a better mobile version that will hopefully be platform-independent. Just waiting for some of the technology to catch up and some of the development tools to stabilize.

what about a BlackBerry ? My dad has a BB and when we're on trips it'd be nice to be able to review my verses on the road.

There is no support for Blackberries anymore. They will soon be obsolete!

Perhaps you could implement the actual memorisation "flash-card" environment in a webpage, and leave the rest of it to be viewed on a larger screen?

A widget that displays the current verse would be awesome & simple & straightforward.

Hello Mrs. Tanks,

No Android app yet. I just recently got an Android smartphone myself and have noticed what you're talking about. I just finished my verses for today so I haven't checked, but Passage Review might work better....

You would tap "Review" first, let it load the verse review page, then tap "Passage Review". The benefit is that it's not pulling you back between feedback and typing; they're sort of put together. I'm not sure, though, if it would run off the screen... it might.

We're working to put together an API and information so mobile phone app developers can do what they do best.

But Passage Review doesn't have first letter hints, right?

Oh, well! :) Just thought I'd ask, in case it was something I was doing wrong. Thanks for the great job you do, anyway!! :)

We have almost completed the first step toward being able to support mobile applications in their native format. But it is going to take quite a while before an app is released. There are a lot of complexities.

Any update on an API?  I'm a professional Android developer and would love to help (Do most if not all of the coding) with the Android client - especially if some of you guys could help with art and testing and such.

I think it would be really fun to do a watch version and perhaps even a tv version.  Simple notifications of a  verse to review while you're hanging around would be easy anyway.

Thanks

I could help with the testing, and even though I know something about coding, I don't know enough for programming such a big thing but I could learn or do some help on some tasks.
I know if we put some effort and coordinstion between a small group of people, we can pull this of.

Neil - could you please send me an email at 'admin' at memverse.com. Or just reply here with your Github handle and I can add you to our repository.

I am super, super excited at the idea of an Android app. Kayle (the guy who built the Windows phone app) has helped us get a lot of the hard work done in terms of Oauth and cleaning up the API.

I'm busy working on the Swagger documentation so the API should be even better soon but it is definitely usable.

We have released the first version of our API documentation. This should enable anyone who wants to build an Android, iOS or Kindle application. If you know any mobile developers, let them know and point them to the documentation: https://www.memverse.com/api/index.html
