  • Not sure what MC just did in the last day or so but not only have you removed the mayor program from our sites you have no made it impossible on the Dashboard to see the leader list. That link is now broke. I for one am getting pretty tired of changes that break other things. Where is the QA testing when your putting in changes.

    My traffic has never recovered from the change in January and the traffic coming to my real site from merchant circle has also dropped.

    I was getting 10-15 new connections per day. Now there are days I get non and if I am lucky I may get 2 or 3 new connections. I haven't even seen and invite to connect to a merchant in weeks.

    To me I am beginning to feel that MerchantCircle may just be a complete waste of time now. Yes you fixed some critical things but it took so long and so much damage was done that it may never recover.

    One of the claims made by merchant circle when the removed the Mayor program form our pages was it putting to much stress on the servers. Let me tell you I don't see any improvement on Merchant circle performance. Daily I get 500 or 404 errors because the server can't handle the traffic. So it would appear to me the mayor program wasn't the issue. You basically took some of the wind out of the sails when you removed it. It appears that most merchants have given up on getting new connections and are tired of the excuses we are getting.

    That is just my 2 cents and if I hadn't investing 100's of hours on getting the connections I have I would consider deleting the profile all together. I will no longer recommend to my web clients to join merchant circle until things are resolved.

      We totally hear your frustrations on this matter. We are not trying to make excuses or break promises - rather we are trying to let merchants know that the changes will take time to show their benefit. You are a seasoned businessperson, and surely you understand that sometimes big changes take time and patience to show good results.

      We have shifted the emphasis of MerchantCircle to try and increase consumer traffic which in the long run is the best strategy for our merchants and for us. This change has caused a temporary decreasing in merchant traffic. However, it is EXTREMELY important to keep in mind that we are in fact seeing an increase in consumer traffic.

      It takes time for traffic flows to develop. With each month that passes there are more and more consumers visiting MerchantCircle - the merchants who choose to be patient will be the ones who profit the most from the changes we have implemented in the past weeks and months.

    • I have been patient and to be honest I am not seeing any increase from my stand point. I have worked hard to improve my pages and get more connections but the traffic is going backwards not forward.

      I am going start shifting my focus on other social media to increase traffic to my website and my business which is why I joined merchant circle in the first place.

      Your own stats that show up on my dashboard clearly show a decrease in traffic not an increase and it has been months since you made the major changes and I am not seeing these so call benefits.

      It is time for me to move on to other ways to increase my business. MC does not appear to be listening to us.

  • another issue. I am trying add a Business Category and the add button does nothing. thought maybe there was a limit of 3 categories so I deleted one so I could add a new one and still the add button does not work.

    When I search on Web Design in Chicago my site is not listed and there no real category that I can find for Web design. Why not. But in the search i get Catering companies and companies that have far less connections than I do. Search on MC stinks. Lack of valid categories as well.

      For now, merchants only have the option to choose from the available list of categories. Our community team here at MerchantCircle has been talking with our team of developers in hopes of making category selections more flexible and customizable. We hope to roll out these improvements soon, and we greatly appreciate your patience!

  • I use Firefox, and an unknown Dashboard design change appears to have rendered a lot of your buttons inoperable. You can click on them all day and nothing happens. For instance:

    I can view messages, but cannot delete or archive them because the "submit" button does nothing.

    I can type a status update but the "Update" (submit) button is not working.

    I can get to the Network page, but clicking on "Invite other MerchantCircle members" does nothing. Very annoying.

    I have not bothered to try using MSIE, but since I see no posts here about these very obvious bugs, I have to assume it's only affecting Firefox users.

    Hello,

    For the last three days have attempted to invite merchant circle members but it has not been working.

    Notice that there seem to be a box or table of some sort that is different than before over the "Connect With Others Now" on the left hand side of them page.

    If you could please advise as to when this feature is working again is greatly appreciated.

  • Today when I logged into MC, instead of opening my dashboard, I was shown a promotional screen for MC. It seems that this is now the norm.

    The first one that was shown to me was about upgrading. I took a look at the benefits of upgrading, and it appears to me that the $4.95 package is what I enjoy as the free program.

    So I'm now trying to perform my morning ritual of inviting other MC members, but now I am not allowed to do so. It appears that the link is still there (my pointer turns into a hand), but nothing happens when I click it.

    Is this feature being taken away, or is it a glitch for today?

  • What ever you did last week appears to have broken many buttons. You really need to have better quality controls. These changes should be backed out now. We can not afford another major problem like this and if it isnt fixed now I am done.

    Sorry it took months for you to fix the mess from January and this need to be fixed today not weeks from now or you may just lose all of us.

  • I’m very disappointed!
    Today we received a response that they were working on the problem, which is caused byt the improvements that they are working to put into place.

    In all other major programs like ebay, etc. the company tells the users that changes are coming, what they are, what their benefits are, and when they will be put in place. They perform a lot of testing before rolling out the changes so that everything works when implemented.

    In the case of MC, we are kept in the dark. It appears that adequate testing is not performed, and we, the users, suffer as a result.

    It's too bad we don't matter.

      We have sincerely tried to communicate with all of our users as effectively as possible, and I'm sorry if we have fallen short in that regard.

      You DO matter to us greatly. All of the improvements we have implemented are designed to help merchants just like yourself to increase their online visibility and customer base. Sometimes it just takes time for traffic flows to develop.

  • driving directions and map are now displaying even though i have it set not to display. come on guys this site is becoming a joke now. Not worth even commenting about it anymore. I have more important things to do than to do your testing that could not have been done.

    Someone posted a comment that I can;t see on here but I got a email on the post stating this "Also I hate the new Mayor additions intemented into the site"
    • The last part of my comment somehow didnt show up. I pointed out the comment someone made about new mayor addtions. Not sure what that person sees that I don't because I don't see anything new at all.

      I just want to make it very clear if you remove the mayor program from the Dashboard I will be done promoting this site. I can give you a 100% guarentee on that.

  • On my dashboard

    1) Does not allow me to submit my thoughts, ideals, or promotions. "What Are You Doing Now?" I can write my ideals into the submit box however pressing "update" does nothing?
    2) My new emails tab is hidden by the links "Customers", "Calendar", and "Promote"...? It would be nice to know if I had a message in my in-box.
    3) "My Thought" I hate the new Mayor additions intemented into this site its unproductive for the possible advertising paying company?? I actually thought this was the whole reason behind creating this type of site in the first place? To me you lost your creative edge. "GREAT CONCEPT GONE WRONG!."
    4) I also noticed that I am paying extra for some type of program aimed toward extra site recognition through Merchant Circle however I have not seen any difference or advantage for paying for it. Please explain again what it is Im buying so that I may keep it however if there is no advantage I can use the money toward programs that actually work.

      1) This is a known bug/technical glitch that our engineers have almost finished fixing.
      2) Are you referring to the "unread messages" link in the far right? I checked in ADMIN and it appears to show up just fine(isn't being blocked by other links) It sounds like it is probably a browser issue.       3) The change is designed to increase consumer traffic, which will result in increased number of potential customers for our paying merchants. We have indeed seen a pick up in consumer traffic.
      4) I checked into your billing account, and it appears that all of your charges + services were previously cancelled. Please visit our help center for more information on paid products. Or, you can visit our community forum thread on paid product info.

    • Please explain this more. I am seeing the exact opposite. From what I get from your post here if your just using the free services the changes are going help get you traffic. From what I have seen since Jan 2012 is a steady drop in traffic to my page on Merchant Circle. And after reviewing the webstats for my real site a steady drop in traffic to my real site from merchant circle. Jan was the peak and May is almost an all time low.

      This dispite the fact that I sign in everyday and invite the max of 100 merchants almost every day. I have 100% more connections than I did in January and I would have expected that would have helped increase the traffic but it has done the exact oposite.

      From what I see above it looks like the non paying merchants here are getting the short end. We helped build these connections and know we are getting less traffic all in favor of MC getting more to pay for services.

      Why would I pay for a service here when you have such terrible Beta testing and break so many things when you put a change in. And when you find out you can't even just back the change out.

      I know this is a broken record but it just seems like this site has gone down dramically in quality and that really maybe the main reason the traffic is down. When links don't work and google crawals the site what do you think they do to the rankiings?

      I could go on but my conclusion is I have wasted hundreds of hours promoting my merchant circle site and inviting connnections. All for nothing.

      So explain to me why I should recommend Merchant Circle to my web development clients. I don't see the value anymore.

  • Some of the buttons in our dashboard are not currently working. Someone made a post on this forum about it in another thread and I would like to add to it:

    I also noticed the Update button for posting my status no longer works. It did a month ago.

    I am using Firefox 12.0 on a Mac.

    Also, a couple of the sections where we can update our business info such as Cities we are listed in -- the little arrow buttons to move content from one section to another do not work. It was this way with the News section arrows too.

  • This keeps getting worse. I tried to upload a jpg to the photo gallery today and it says bad file please upload jpg, gif or png. I even tried uploading one of the same files already there and it gave me the same message.

    I am giving up on Merchant Circle. It is unacceptable that MC did not back the changes out that caused all these things to be broken.

      Sorry for the tech glitches as well as for the frustration it is causing.

      I went into our test dashboard to see if I could duplicate the picture uploading problem - I was able to upload them without issue.

    • I was able to upload using a differant computer but IE 9 will not let me change the order. I had to do it in Firefox. And the computer I tried this on I have never logged into Merchant Circle before today so it is not a cache issue. It is IE 9 will not allow drag and drop of the images to change the order but Firefox does.

    Well I have been gone for months and now I pop my head in to see nothing is better and nothing is working yet. In fact the only activity I see is that our main page on MC went from a page rank of 5 to a 4 and will most likely keep dropping. We had 3 invites in months and we use to get 100 per day. I think that speaks for itself. We get no traffic from MC now and it use to flow in daily before the big change. Oh well easy come easy go right.

      I am closing in on 19,000 connections on MC and I can tell you that since the change in the format my connection rate has dropped drastically. I send out the 100 allowed invitations daily and before the change I would get about 20-25 acceptances on a slow day and 50-60 on a good day, since the change the acceptances have slowed to where I may only get 5 on a slow day and the good days about 25.

      I publish a promotion EVERY day and my listing traffic is slowly fading away.
      When trying to access photosin my library for my promotions I can no longer access all of the photos in my library, only the 16 most recent added. There are time i would like to use one of the other photos but I can't unless i re-upload it and end up pushing one out of my options.

      I just tried posting a blog with an image inserted and this STILL does not work. This problem with the blog has been going on since last June, almost a year now, and even though the powers that be at MC have said many times that this is a priority to get fixed it has not happened. ----- This is why I use a paid blog service for my blogging ---- one that allows me to post pictures, videos and links to what I want and allows ME to control what is advertised on my blog. Hey! - The great part is it works!

      I rarely receive invites from other merchants anymore, maybe 1-2 per week (if I'm lucky), compared to before the change I would regularly receive 1-5 per day. You would think with over 18.000 connections, my listing would show up quite often in the acceptance emails MC sends to other merchants that have sent out connection invitations and I would see a constant flow of invites but that is not happening.

      So I guess my point is;

      Hey Dave!

      Staying Active/Sending Invites -- Not working like it used to.

      Publishing Promotions -- Not getting the response it used to because the promotion is no longer coming directly from me but is bundled in a group of other coupons/promotions comming from MC and does not get looked at.

      Blog on MC? -- What a joke! It has not worked properly for almost a year now!

      Last but not least -- I have to throw this in -- With the discontinuation of the Mayor program MC has killed off a tremendous amount of activity from the merchants themselves as we really ENJOYED competing for the title.

      In closing, I guess I have to say I agree with you Tony and wish you and your business only the best.

    • I agree with you Randy especially the Last but not least. There is no doubt the discuntinuation of the Mayor Program killed off a great deal of activity form the merchants. If that wasn't true than why is my traffic dropping why is it that very few except any invite I send now. I used to get 20-25% accepting now it is like 1 or 2%. Not worth the effort anymore.

      Doesn't the name Merchant Circle itself imply this is a place for merchants to connect?

      A few months ago before the major change I actually got some calls from local merchants and I have done business with a few but after that change in Jan there has been 0 calls related to merchant circle.

    Update buttons still not working...and why was my last reply removed or not here when I simply reported WHAT WAS NOT WORKING, and still is not.

    One cannot update their site without the button working? Fact!

    I have wriiten, rplied and responded on these getsatisfaction pages for MC

    When I return they are all gone?

    Who is removing them and why? If they being removed by MC

    Over a week now and on my MC site I cannot update anything....buttons do not work....I do pay mothly fees for my site....I have never gone a week without updating my site: Except now!

    No reply buttons work...no update buttons work: In fact no command button to enter or change works?

    I have written on this forum 4 times and each is gone it appears about this major MC glitch issue.

    This is now my 5th posting ! Maybe number 5 will stay put.

      We haven't removed your posts from today - often what happens is we get several posts from different people all about the same topic - for the sake of efficiency and in hopes of inspiring a lively discussion forum we will merge(not delete) all the posts into one thread.

    I hate this new set up. I can't advertise on anyone elses pages and can't update my status on the NEws Feed aor delete messages after reading and applying to them. This really stinks. If I can't advertise I jsut may cancel my membership and account.

    Perfect solution and a win win for both the business owner and for Merchant circle.

    1) When a business has the most connections in his district yes he deserves to be Mayor for that area. He gets a So called free ride (Ill get into to this...A free ride means simply: 1) A free large banner on his districts home page with his logo and phone number advertising that this company is indeed at this time the mayor for his area...this promotes interest for other companies to get invlolved or possibly try to overtake and become a mayor themselves (no one likes to be second or worse its human nature)). Free ride includes adverstising for that company back like before the changes in the Mayor program was initiated plus a large banner on that busineses district home page giving the that mayor a small advantage over all other businesses in his area for all his hard work making connections. Proven fact everyone wants free or low cost advertisment and people will go to great links to get it.

    Ok enough for the free ride for the mayor part lets get into the cost advantages for Merchant Circle
    .
    Lets give everyone an apprentice choice. The choice to pay to be up there with the Mayor lets say for a week or two or a full month only at a small price. This not only puts a price for the mayor spot (However the true Mayor gets it for free (Mayor connection advantage) but also gives busineses the thrive to get something for free that would otherwise cost an apprecnice mayor to get. Im guessing here a small fee lets say of $20.00 - $25.00 a month so other businesses will have the oppurtunity to see how it feels to be on top of his district homepage as well and if only temporarely they at least get that chance and good feeling. Limit the number of apprentice spots so that being on top doesnt lose its punch. (Maybe 2-4 apprentices spots per district x's the hundreds of districts that businesses are competing for Mayorship throughout the country within Merchant Circle.... NOW thats extra income your not receiving and are losing out on for sure!! ??) Also limit the number of times you can be an apprentice per year so that theres room for all businesses in that district to attempt to be an apprentice. This allows the big companies not to buy up all the apprentice spots to gain that extra advertisement advantage and leaves room for the small business with only say 20 connections to get that big spot next to the BIG Mayor on there districts homepage in there District.

    Implement this or a similar program and you will see an excitement throughtout Merchant Circle you havnt seen since your grand opening. Make it fun make it different make it profitable, But dont make it dificult or boring likes this site is becoming theres no buzz of excitement or anticipation for your new program? Stray away from having everyone feel as though this site is becoming a "Just for Profit" type of advertisement website. Business owners have money theres no doubt but we are also smart and want to SEE where we are putting all our money, time, and efforts, rather than just READING in a forum that yea its working?? This doesnt fly and is quickly becoming M.C.'s future issues.

    • Tony, Then simply add to this thread with direction rather than sinical criticism. Im only hoping theres a way to change the direction M.C. is heading. This great idea was by far not a full thourough solution to the direct issues in regards to revamping this site.. Then again if M.C.'s changes have not effected your business in any way simply say nothing. GREAT.!! Your the 0.01% M.C. is refering too :)

    I can't archive my messages in inbox; I can't send invitations, I can't post a blog. I was informed MC was aware of this bug however, its been almost a week and nothing has been done. I can't add my additional cities so why am I paying for a service I cannot use. (2) Another problem if you update your name like I did from No Hassle Shopping 24/7 to No Hassle Shopping Inc. 24/7 it deletes your previous reviews and ratings; it deletes all of your badges. No Hassle Shopping had the following: Preferred Merchant, Top Merchant, and Circle of Excellence and verified by Merchant Circle. I no longer have all of the badges and I have requested on numerous occasions to have them replaced so far I'll received two I'm still waiting on the others. Will someone in top management please read this complaint and have No Hassle Shopping Inc. 24/7problems resolved. We as customers expect excellent customer service so far it has been less than perfect. (3) Why should we have to join another site to receive help? I joined Merchant Circle not to join additional sites to get help.

      1) We have already identified the programming solution - the reason we haven't rolled out the new code yet is because we are currently beta testing all of the bug solutions for the sake of being thorough and safe. All the technical site issues you mentioned should be resolved within 1-2 business days.

      2) Your listing correctly shows the Top Merchant and Circle of Excellence badges. The Preferred Merchant Badge only goes to listings that have one one of the bundles. The reason your Preferred badge went away is because you cancelled the bundle you previously had. To get that badge again you can sign up for a bundle through your dashboard by clicking on the "Promote Tab".

      3) This forum is one method to get help, but we also have excellent customer service through our help center. If you click on "email us" we respond to those emails within 1-2 business days. Additionally, our help center has a a great library or helpful, short articles that can answer most merchant questions.

  • You got the Personal Invite Button working. Well that is part of it. Now when you go to invite Merchants, it goes to OOPS, Sorry something went wrong and go back to the Merchant Circle Home Page. Tried twice. Must say it is very frustrating considering you have been working on this issue. Probably very frustrating for you as well.

      We pushed out the coding fix on last Friday so these buttons should be working just fine. I went in and just tested these buttons myself and everything appears to be functioning properly. Most site issues are actually browser issues and not bugs, and can be easily solved by clearing your browser.
