    • I am the Real Owner of Sentry Cleaners in Goose Creek, and it has come to my attention after receiving calls from customers on my personal line. That a theif of a former employee has logged on to your site and posted mine and my families personal info. Now I can't get in to fix this, you have my phone number, so please pick up the phone and call me to help fix this ASAP!!!!! This is urgent!!!

    • Hi Kim,

      Our dev team looked into this - apparently this is not actually a bug and the logic just needs to be improved. The code logic is set up so that in your neighbor dashboard you can only follow merchants in your zip code(and very close surrounding areas). So, it isn't a bug, it is just poor logic. You can still follow any merchant in any location when you follow from search results + listing pages, but from the dashboard you can only follow nearby merchants, which in your case you have already followed all available merchants from the dashboard.

      We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention, and we have plans to update this code logic in the future to improve user experience in the neighbor dashboard.

    I am an employee for Sierra Insurance Associates, an insurance company.
    1. I searched for our company by the company name, and our listing came up, which was good.

    2. I searched for "insurance" in our area (Truckee, CA) and did not find our business listed in any of the pages. By page 4 (see link below) I saw listings for excavating sites, and still, no sign of our insurance company, which is very bad.

    3. I have our listing under the "insurance" category. It really has no reasson NOT to show up. I'm not sure how Merchant Circle lists their businesses on the website, but it appears that this is either a simple error, or there is a huge flaw in the way the system is running.
    4. When you search "insurance" in Truckee, CA, we should show up at least by the third page. We have an excellent web presence, and have been listed in the top 10 of many other search engines, so I would expect a similar experience here.

      We are currently working on our internal site search. There are several issues with the functionality and the logic that deciphers the order a business is found in search. I just created a ticket with our engineering team to focus on improving the logic that is currently in place. I expect that this isn't an immediate fix, but needs to be & will be addressed soon.     • Lisa, this is correct you can post a review on another merchant page, but you can't post a blog or sale on another merchants page. If you are connected to a merchant, a blog post, sale, deal, uploading of photos, etc.... all show up in their news feed & also help you get found easier in organic search results in the search engines. You can also send your network a newsletter to let them know what you sell. Hope you are having a great Monday.

    Can you please explain to me why there is NO save button on Newsletters & Coupons or anything else that people can create?

    I have now lost content for my newsletter 4 times.

    You click a box and bam all your content is gone or it shows in the edit box but when you preview it nothing displays.

    Its pretty dam ridiculous if you ask me.

    It doesn't matter what browser you use your "Newsletter" creation service is HORRIBLE.

  • This site has been getting 503 errors all day long today. You have a major issue here you need to address. This has been going on all day and you need to address it. THIS IS NOT A browser issue it is your system is reporting back 503 errors to visitors. This indicates you have a serer or system issue that needs to be addressed.
    • I would have expected this would have been addressed. When I do a google search on my page to find what google has listed on merchant circle the page keeps getting 503 errors. When I try and go to my dashboard today or even logon I get 503 errors. I have to try multiple times before it works.

      Do you think people that find the link to my merchant circle page will try more than once when they get a 503 error. No they are gone so your affecting your merchants business and crediblity when you fail to resolve this issue.

      This has been going on for at least 36 hours now. Not only are these issues damaging my reputation it is damaging to Merchant CIrcle as well. Your even losing more of your reputation with this than you probably even realize.

    Today no one can see connect to or any button. Only the top info displays.

    Don't even tell me this is a browser issue. I have done everything humanly possible including trying this on a computer that I have not used for merchant circle so it is not a browser issue.

      I just tested listings in all major categories across several browsers and everything (including the "connect to" button) is displaying and functioning correctly.

      Thanks for your response but the fact that your response is 8 hours after I reported it bothers me. Sure it is fine 8 hours later but it was not fine for over an hour this morning at which time I gave up. This kind of issue and 503 errors happen far far to often with Merchant Circle and this mornings situation if you waited a minute than the rest of the page filled in. Do you really think people are going to wait a minute for the page to finish displaying.

      But in a way this issue was a favor to us. Visitors had no option but to click our real website links to get more information. Thus by passing your ads.

    Ya'll need to get a handle on your error pages. Extremely irritating to click on link in an email to request a connection and have to do it several times because of all the http://www.merchantcircle.com/errorpa... error pages that come up!! How do you expect people to want to come back to the MC and expand their connections if it takes 5 times as long as it should??!! Don't know if it's software glitches or overwhelming your servers with requests, but you need to get it fixed because people just get frustrated and go away and never come back!

      I suggest that MC make an announcement a day or 2 before an "enhancement" is implemented providing the date & time, and what the enhancement is all about. This would alert us and is a nice proactive approach to show that MC is concerned about the well being of it's users. The recent history where enhancements are sprung on us without notice and their purpose is unknown to us is not good PR. As you are aware, many of the recent enhancements have failed miserably when they have been implemented.

    I just deleted my listing because I could not fix the issue everyone is talking about. Was the bug supposed to be fixed today? If I can edit my business info, I would like to keep my listing.

      We just implemented the fix so everything should be working fine now. Unfortunately there is no way to recover an account that has already been permanently deleted from the system. That being said, it is only takes a couple of minutes to create a new account via the "join now" button on the MC home page.

  • For the newsletter feature, the send yourself a preview email is not working.

    I have tried different emails and different newsletters. I have tried for over 2 hours and still have not gotten a preview email.

      Thank you for letting us know. Our team is currently working on optimizing the "send preview" button. The preview gets successfully sent, but it is just delayed. In the next few days we should have it optimized so that the preview gets sent right after you click the button.

  • Why is it that when I check related businesses from my profile or for that matter any profile that your promoting businesses I find businesses completely unrelated and have ZERO merchant circle connections. What I find is service magic or businesses that have not claimed profiles. None of the related businesses are even remotely related to my business. Why is this? You seem to promote businesses that are not part of Merchant Circle when you should be promoting businesses that are regardless if we are paying for services or not.
    My point is this might be why a lot of businesses don’t bother claiming there profile and don’t bother getting connections. You can say what you want but the amount of new connections in the last few months has dropped to a small fraction of what it was before your grand new design.
    Every day I keep promoting my business on here and everyday I keep thinking why am I wasting time here. If I don’t see improvement soon I will just stop promoting here and go social media sites that actual do help.

    When I log in, it takes anywhere from 30-60 seconds for your server to respond. It's been like this for as long as I've had an account. I've logged in from several different locations...the long login time is the same. Once I'm logged in everything seems to move along quickly. It's only at the initial login that there is this looong lag. Is there a fix in the near future?

    When I log in, it takes from 30-45 seconds for the merchant circle server to respond. Once I'm in, everything is quick. This happens at every log in. I've tested this from multiple locations.       I can't think of a reason why this would be happening. Our website does have occasional server issues, but none have happened recently. And you say that it works once logged in, which adds to the confusion! Has this only been happening recently? I'm going to pass this on to one of our engineers - any more info would be great.

    • Hi Terry,

      Certain Merchants on our site can pay to have their businesses displayed at the top of Google's search engine. We do not know why this would be happening for every site you click however. Most of our merchants don't pay for the google-enhanced search. I will pass this on to our engineers. For the time being, maybe try clearing your browser's cache and cookies?

  • My MC account will not stay connected to Facebook and when trying to login to Facebook through the "Account Settings" it will let me connect to Facebook but will not let me actually view my Facebook page from MC. I must get out of MC to go to Facebook.

  • I recently aquired the business Sparkleen in Tallahassee Fl. It seems before I took over the business a customer was upset about something. This customer has created a MC page for my business located here: http://www.merchantcircle.com/busines...

    I have responded to her review rather than deleting it, yet my response still has not appeared under the poor review.

    Our business is improperly listed in your website. It has the wrong address, phone number and services listed. I have made numerous requests regarding our removal from your site. It was listed here initially without anyone from my company's consent in an unauthorized manner. It causes harm to my company and continues to waste our companies tie due its showing up in search engines. PLEASE remove our company from your website.   • I used to have a listing for another business of mine about a year and a half ago. I built a nice sized network of connections quite easily. I recently started a new business and have been VERY disappointed in the results. I've spent the last week submitting connection requests and I am not getting any results. 399 invitations sent so far and not even once approved. It seems like nobody is even coming here after they do their initial listing. I'm beginning to wonder if they are getting my invitations at all? If this doesn't change, I can't see any value of even being here.

    • I have to say I have seen the same problem. Since the major changes early in 2012 the percentage of accepted connections based on the invites I sent is about 1 percent before the change it was about 20%. How is this better and I believe most merchants are checking and signing in much less often now as they feel MC is not as relavent as it was before. Everytime I go to the new site there some broken link. But I find if you refresh multiple times the page than the link works. Either you have some script that is taking to long to load or something not in sync from server to server. Specifically the See my entire network link. If a merchant connects with ;me I like to see if they have local connections that I might want to invite. But most of the time that link is broke until you refresh your screen up to 10 times. These kind of things make people less likely to use the site.

    Yes I had to come back today for a look and as I suspected this place is dead.

    Florida sun said it all. When the new management took over those of us that spent half our life here making merchant circle saw it was clearly the end of merchant circle. We all had a great networking community that worked and now I can send out thousands of invites before I get 3 accepted weeks later maybe. Not like before when we got dozens of connections daily and conversions to sales on a daily basis. You have lost the magic which was people like us that didnt just login and prowl. I miss the sales we had and the customers we welcomed in to our co op of low packaging prices. Along with Google's plan to disrupt organic search so badly that PPC would be the only way to continue the google traffic train if you put all your eggs in google's basket, you all have made it much more difficult for anyone to start or succeed at small business. Good work Boys, Pat yourself on the back you found a way to make money while screewing things up for everyone else. Way to go and god bless American greed.

      Merchant Circle has had continued growth over the last three years regardless of who owns and manages it, and we still have the same engineers. Over 1.2 million people visit our site each year, which means small business owners are receiving continued exposure.

      You are right, many business owners don't utilize their listings as much as they could, some just want to put their information up and then leave it. We can't always control the way they maintain their page, although we try to offer them tips and tutorials on how to use newsletters, publish coupons, upload pictures, and network with fellow businesses.

      It can be frustrating when Google changes their search policies. That is one reason why we also use Yahoo and CitySearch for our listings. But unfortunately Google can overshadow them at times.

      Over 70% of businesses on Merchant Circle have free accounts - we don't receive a dime from them, and our site can only benefit their exposure in the long run. We make money from paid ads which are posted on our site, and from merchants who chose to buy leads - I don't understand how that is greedy.

      I'm sorry if your experience with Merchant Circle wasn't what you expected. Do you have any questions/concerns with your business listing which I can try to help you with?

    I have posted twice now that I have never been to your site, never signed up for it, etc. yey MC is hijacking my google searches.
    I search for a topic in google, It gives me the ist of links for my search. I click on a link, and it then, in stead of going stright to my website, MC list of merchants come up with merchants that have products related to my search. I WANT THIS STOPPED!

    Not only do I hate it, but you arent doing your mercants any favors either. Nothing about that makes me want to go to your merchants link. I fact, at first it made me mad at those merchants, thought THEY were hijacking my searches, until I realized it was THIS site's doing.

    I dont know what you ahve to do to stop it, but it s SPAM at the highest degree.

    I am new and actively recruiting my current clients and friends to join me over here for better service and features than all the systems I currently use, however we are experiencing issues..

    The system is lagging and not responsive to clicks. The review button does not work on my page. A customer posted in the "Contact me" section since he could not "REVIEW" me, but that does not help me build my rating.

    Non merchants have a hard time finding me and following me. and I can't find "Neighbors" (non business members) to invite them to my page.

  • I am a Business, I am new and have been promoting my site. First issue of concern is people being able to follow me. and me being able to follow other local businesses, sometimes it works and other times it wont let the follow to process.

    Secondly I created a page for After Hours Heating and Cooling LLC of Chesapeake VA and within a day their merchant circle link showed up in searched and even before that Merchant Circle and their name in the search resulted in them being seen. this is the yahoo search, http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A... My page however is not showing up.. either way. If you come onto the site and type in all my information in the search bar you get a list and I am on it. This is not really helpful for people that don't know me.. Why dont I come up alone

      It takes several days to a week for your listing to be properly networked on Merchant Circle. Your listing will be higher in a search if someone writes a review and/or rates your business.

      Could you go into more detail about what happens when you try to follow local businesses? I'm trying the site out now and haven't had any bugs/problems. A lot of businesses unfortunately don't check their listing very often, so a certain percentage of them don't ever respond to your friend invite.

  • I’m Looking for Answers
    I have recently tried to claim multiple listings for different businesses and it prompts me to submit a bulk upload via e-mail. Each of these businesses have their own e-mail address and even after I make sure I log out of the site, clean up the cookies and history and try again it still prompts me to send an e-mail with the bulk upload. I've sent an e-mail to no avail. Is there another way around this?

    My original post stated that this question had been merged to this topic but was not able to find a response. Could you respond to my post directly please?

    • It is not duplicates that I'm concern with. I work for an internet marketing company and we have a variety of clients that we represent. When we go in and try to submit their information or claim their listing on MC we're not allowed. We are using different e-mail addresses to claim their listings. We can do the claiming process for one client, sign out, then try to create a different account and it prompts us to submit a bulk upload even though it is a different e-mail address and different business altogether.
    • That's very strange and we haven't heard about this problem happening before. I have submitted your information to our engineering team and they will try to figure out what is going on here! This is very unfortunate as we rely on active participation by individuals such as yourself to grow the visibility and originality of MC.       Is there some more information you can give me about the spam that you're receiving? I can look up the company and most likely be able to get the spamming to stop. If you can give me the name of the company, a link to the company's listing, and some idea of what exactly you're being sent (or any combination of these three) I can get to work on it.

      I click on them and it directs me to the main New York Site and nothing to hone down who is doing it.

      In my activity section...page after page saying someone from New York has visited....I am sure not that many New Yorkers are looking at my page.

  • I am really getting tired of the 503 errors. Every time I try to invite a merchant to connect I am getting a 503 error. Than when I try again it says already connection sent but than it shows it was just connected. So how the heck do I know if when a 503 error happens if it really sent the requiest to the merchant.

    This happens almost daily and any other business I know that had that happen this often would be firing there infrustructure staff for this.

    I have had it. What steps are you taking to stop the 503. Until i get satisfactory responses I am done trying to build my connections. I don't have time to keep re-doing work.

  • I'm having an issue with my listing. I've updated my information through my profile (new website address, new description), but the information on my listing remains the same. Not sure what's going on...
