How Has Facebook Helped Your Business?

  • Question
  • Updated 3 years ago
Ok, I want to hear from small business owners here on MerchantCircle. For those of you that have a Facebook Fan Page and want to share with the merchant community. How has Facebook helped build either business relationships or even increased business sale? How have you found Facebook useful for your local business? How have you been able to build networking/relationships through fans on Facebook? Finally, what do you see for the future of Facebook and local business networking?

Looking forward to hearing from the Facebook pros in the room and also those that may be new to Facebook or are considering creating a fan page.

Hello,
I have a facebook page for my business, but I'm having problems:

1) I don't think is set up right.
2) I don't know how to get pople to connect to/like my business page or get facebook fans
3) I saw my Merchant Circle postings appear on my facebook page at one time, but they aren't there any more - what happened to them?
4) I'd like to build a more professional page for my business like other businesses have done, but don't know how (I have html experience)

Any documentation I find on the web uses facebook terms that I'm not familiar with and they often show a snapshot of an area I cannot find on my business facebook page.

I'm lost and frustrated and need someone to guide me - any ideas?

My business website that I personally created is www.cornicestore.com. If you scroll down on any page, you'll notice a facebook icon which you can click to see what I've done on facebook.

Hi Lynn,

The best thing to do is promote your facebook account on MerchantCircle, in the signature line of your email, printed marketing material, etc.....

It sounds like you had integrated your facebook account with MerchantCircle, but possibly something got disabled. You should login to your MerchantCircle business listing and check to make sure everything is setup correctly. Here's the link: http://www.merchantcircle.com/merchan... Also, here is a link to a video about the product and how it can help you grow your business: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCgFXn...

Facebook....eh!! I have to say I do a lot better with Twitter. I generate more leads, a more substantial network, and a better base of followers interested in what I am speaking about. Granted, I Tweet mostly pertaining to my fundraising efforts which entails a solid base of followers to begin with, BUT Twitter has proven to be (for me) the go-to SMM!

I have found that importing my tweets engages my network to get involved AND Because I tweet throughout the day, I see that engagement reach a variety of people. MC CL TIP** Link your Twitter account!!

Thanks for the info.

I made a status update in MC, which did show up in FB - one step in the right direction.

David Gwin suggested that I "promote your facebook account on MerchantCircle, in the signature line of your email, printed marketing material, etc.....".

Please clarify - what link would I place in my signature line? My facebook link:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Cor...

Please provide an example of what you use.

BTW: I'll tackle Twitter, once I get FB figgured out.

Facebook has given my business additional exposure above and beyond Twitter and other social networking sites because there are many folks out in the vast internet world that stick with ONLY Facebook.

I made my page to be for my business, not my personal self, but did include info on it regarding my "personal self" so business visitors, business friends and potential customers can get to know me -- and hopefully like me -- and then in the end, purchase my services.

Facebook has some unique features that other networking sites don't have and so I believe that is why it draws a sometimes unique audience.

Hi Henry,

I am not sure why this might be? Have you tried updating your status on MerchantCircle periodically with a link to either your Facebook page or possibly Twitter if you have a page there too? In case you don't know about the ability to link your Facebook or Twitter account, here is the link:

http://merchantcircle.desk.com/custom...

When you link each account you create a bi-directional publishing on both platforms (ex: Facebook will publish to MerchantCircle and vice versa).

I'm still confused.

1) I log into my MC account, go to My Account / Account Settings.
2) I click Twitter & Facebook
3) I see Sign into Facebook and Sign into Twitter - even though I just did that 2 minutes ago
4) I then sign into Facebook from MC, and my settings are good on MC
5) I then sign into Twitter from MC, and my settings are good on MC
6) I logged off of MC, logged back in and my FB and Twitter settings are still good.
7) I went to my Dashboard and Updated What are you doing now?
8) I checked both FB and Twitter settings and their still good.
9) I signed out of MC.
10) I went to log into Twitter - seems I'm still logged in from MC????
11) After 10 minutes, the MC update has not made it to Twitter.
12) I signed onto FB (I wasn't still logged on from MC), and after 10 minutes the update did not show.
13) I signed out of FB and Twitter
14) I signed into MC
15) Go to step 1) above and start all over

Why doesn't MC retain my info for FB and Twitter, and why don't my updates on MC get sent to FB & Twitter?

This is very frustrating!!!!

Lynn, are you saying that your Facebook & Twitter accounts are linking, but when you log back in they are not still linked? Is MC not retaining they linked accounts? There isn't an issue with the publishing of content to Facebook & Twitter, this takes 30 minutes to publish. The logic in the code has set the content that is published through MC will take 30 minutes to publish to the 2 social media sites.

Hi Donex,

I wholeheartedly agree, Facebook is a great way to help brand recognition for businesses, and anything we can do to increase visibility is obviously a great plus!

Thanks for posting on our forum!

Wendy,

Thanks so much for sharing with the MerchantCircle community. Please make sure you only share a similar topic once, and don't over saturate the forum with the same/similar post. Hope you are having a great start to your week!
