It would make it a lot easier to find them when we need them.

I am connected to some really great local businesses, however when I want to utilize them for their products or services its much too hard to find who I am connected too when all our connections are lumped together.

Last year I needed my washing machine repaired, I knew I had to have someone in my local connections here on merchant Circle, however I could not find one unless I scrolled through all my connections.

Yes, I realize I could do a search and come up with several, but I would really like to give the business to someone who I am already connected to.
If just picking someone from the list who we may or may not be connected too is your answer, then why do we bother connecting with other local businesses?

When we create our listing we have to pick a category that best describes our business. Why isn't there a way to see those categories from our account so that when I need a repair service I could simply go into the category and pick one?

Also, what is the big deal with only being able to invite 100 per day? Does it really matter? Why the limit?, it makes no sense to limit us from connecting to others when that is what Merchant Circle is all about.

Since joining Merchant Circle I can count on ONE hand the amount of people who have INVITED ME. Some of you may remember talking to me on chat about this. I get ZERO invites....as in ZERO. All my connections are people who I INVITED!! So, limiting me to only 100 invites per day really sucks!

Anyone reading this please send me an invite....It would really make me feel special LOL

Hey there,

Strange, I could have sworn I replied to this feedback already--however it appears my reply did not survive the "topic merge."

Just to reiterate--great feedback. I have added it to our Community Team's official "Merchant Feature Requests"!

Thanks again.

Best,
Trish

Great suggestions. I am here almost every single day and go for the limit on invitiations.

Also, I would love to connect with you. I'd even invite you to do so, but I can't get there from here. Connecting directly from forum posts was soooooo much easier in the old MC format!

If anyone would like to connect with us, find us at

Hello Cajun,

I have brought this up in the past--I agree our site is not very "nationwide" friendly. This has had a lot to do with focusing on local and preventing spamming of the network.

However, I do like the idea of businesses being able to choose from a "location-based" versus "online-based" presence. Since a lot of service providers (and retailers) operate online.

Is this sort of what you are referring to?

Best,
Trish

TRISH, NO NOT REALLY - I PAY FOR EXTRA CITY LISTINGS - WOULD LIKE TO PAY ONE PRICE FOR A LISTING IN THE WHOLE STATE INSTEAD OF HAVING TO PICK A CITY OR CITIES.

It's a bit stupid to have businesses limited to a city or state when most of us are online. The world is our area.

SORRY, BUT I DISAGREE WITH YOU - THE ORIGINAL IDEA OF MC WAS TO HELP LOCAL MERCHANTS NETWORK TOGETHER TO STIMULATE LOCAL SALES BY SHARING & REFERRING CUSTOMERS.

YES, THE WORLD IS OUR AREA WITH THE USE OF ONLINE SITES BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM ONLINE SALES ON A NATIONAL LEVEL.

FOR EXAMPLE: I AM NOT ALLOWED TO SELL OUTSIDE MY MARKET SERVICE AREA DUE TO DISTRIBUTOR AGREEMENTS BY MANUFACTURERS BECAUSE WE HAVE TO SERVICE THE EQUIPMENT SOLD AND PROVIDE THE TRAINING PER THE STATE LAWS.

IF I NETWORK OUTSIDE MY SERVICE AREA - I RECEIVE NO BENEFIT
FURTHERMORE - I ALSO CREATE MORE NETWORK TRAFFIC ON MC SERVERS / EQUIPMENT WHICH ULTIMATELY SLOWS THE MC NETWORK TRAFFIC SPEED DOWN.

THINK FIRST BEFORE YOU SEND OR ACCEPT AN INVITATION THAT DOES NOT BENEFIT EITHER MERCHANT - ACCEPTING THE INVITE JUST BECAUSE YOU RECEIVED IT - ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING

THANKS KIM

Hi Kim,

At this time there isn't any ability to market a business statewide. MerchantCircle is still focused on local advertising for individual businesses.

Dear CajunAEDSales,

I was in a meeting with Trish and our developers today. Our developers continue to discuss this idea but there is unlikely to be a verdict on it in the immediate future, since it would be a pretty significant change. It wouldn't surprise me if something like this was implemented in the future. We will keep you in the loop on any changes that may or may not occur regarding this.

PATRICK - MC STAFF - TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

I FIND THIS VERY AGGRAVATING - WHEN A MERCHANT POSTS A MESSAGE TO A PARTICULAR STAFF PERSON - EVERYBODY WANTS TO ANSWER FOR THEM AND PUT THEIR 2 CENTS IN THE PICTURE. - WE ARE POSTING A QUESTION TO THAT PERSON - NOT YOU.

WHEN SOMEONE ELSE ANSWERS I PERSONALLY FIND IT RUDE BECAUSE THE QUESTION WAS NOT TO YOU.

NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT PLEASE STOP ANSWERING FOR OTHER PEOPLE.

IF POST IS TO A GENERIC NATURE OR NOT ADDRESSED TO A PARTICULAR STAFF MEMBER THAN ANY / ALL RESPONSES ARE WELCOME.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, KIM

Trish / David,

How about giving us the Ability To Restrict Invitations From Non-Service Areas / States as a Future Enhancement ?

Example: my service areas are Louisiana / Mississippi only. - Ability to stop invitations from all other states. - Getting invites from other states does not help me.

Thanks, Kim

Hi Again,

We hear this a lot. It hasn't been done mainly because any connection between merchants has been viewed as a "Benefit" in building a stronger network. However I am officially adding it to our Merchant Feature Requests since it seems to be a popular request.

Best,
Trish

TRISH, IN REALITY IT IS NOT BUILDING A STRONGER NETWORK DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CONNECTION BENEFITS NO ONE ON EITHER SIDE.

IF I CAN NOT SERVICE THAT AREA, WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO CONNECT WITH THEM - NO SALES FOR SURE - WHICH IS THE MAIN IDEA OF BUILDING YOUR NETWORK.

IT ALSO PUTS MORE DEMAND ON THE NETWORK AS FAR AS TRAFFIC BEING POSTED TO YOUR WALL.

LOL THANKS, KIM

Hi Kim,

MerchantCircle has historically been a business network--a network that works together to create a competitive online presence to help everybody "get found" online.

Connections help merchant listings get found as the connection creates a back link between listings. In addition, for every merchant you are connected to--you rotate as a "Recommended Business" on their page.

While it is true that merchants can be customers too, MC was not created for this purpose. MC tries not to promote advertising or soliciting between connections--we tend to refer to this as "spam."

We encourage blogging, uploading photos, creating and tagging photos (anything pertaining to your own listing).

I hope you're having a lovely Thursday.

Best,
Trish

Organization! I know you've heard it before but....
-Gallery folders to organize our pictures
-Advanced Search for the network connections (location, industry, ect.)
-RSS for the blogs? Create a way to subscribe automatically from the listing page
-MC Mail- If you're gonna keep it, might as well let us message people from their listings. In case it hasn't previously been brought up, you can no longer email a merchant (connected or not) from their listing...it needs to be done through the message system n the dash.

Okay, that'll do me.....for know ;)

Michelle, these are great suggestions. I know you wrote this a long time ago, but we really do appreciate it. The biggest two are the advanced search & improving the blog feature we currently offer. Both of these are being worked on right now, however the other items are still pending. Hope you are having a wonderful summer.

Reference : Start Gossiping! Check out MerchantCircle Reviews emails

I HATE these emails I get from you suggesting I gossip about businesses. Do you KNOW what GOSSIP means??? Gossip is idle talk or rumor about the personal or private affairs of others. It has a reputation for the introduction of errors and variations into the information transmitted. It's not something I want associated with MY business. What I want is facts not speculations, truth not lies. Thi8s is a very poor campaign title. What about instead of gossip you put Give Reviews! OR Give evaluations? Gossip is not the word any good business should want in the same sentence as their business name.

Hi Charil,

Thank you for your comments. I completely agree with you and our team is currently working on updating our email campaigns so our messaging is consistent with both MC's recent changes & our current goal, which is to connect searching customers with the best businesses in their local areas.

Again, thank you for your honest and valuable feedback.

Dear Pete,

Our developers are putting a major emphasis on mobile apps going forward. Although I can't go into any specifics until we are ready to roll out the new features, MC users can definitely look forward to these types of innovations in the future.

Hi Kim,

I think this is a great idea. The focus has been on the dashboard, and will continue to be the focus for the near future. We are trying to improve the user experience & deliver more value to our businesses. I will create a ticket & add this to the dev projects to be considered.

Kim,

I think this idea might not be a priority for the dev team. They are working on the dashboard right now, but are focused on the blog, coupons, newsletter, & overall layouts of everything. I will also create a ticket for this, but don't think it will be ranked as high as your previous suggestion.

Dear Kim,

Thank you for the suggestion. We have tried similar programs in the past with mixed results, although I will make sure to pass this idea on to the rest of our team. Currently our top Dev priority is improving and revamping the MC dashboard.

Have a great day!

MC Staff,

I have a few suggestions for your site.

I hope these suggestions come across as genuine feedback/ suggestions and not complaining.

My most important suggestion is making the zip code search work more efficiently. When I typed in “Auto Body Shop” in or around “60636” it automatically changed my “in and around” area to Chicago. Well, Chicago has roughly 60 zip codes and neighborhoods. My first page search results came from 60647, 60613, 60614, 60622, 60642, 60607- EVERYONE of those zip codes is over a 25 minute drive. So I tried “Auto Body Shop” in or around “Gage Park” and “Gage Park, Chicago”, and “Gage Park, Il”- Not one of them returned results to the Gage Park, 60636 area. I was forced to leave your site and go to Google...when I Googled “auto body shops 60636” I got TONS of Body Shops in this area. I was interested in using your site until I realized it was not advanced enough. This could be a large deterrent for other potential users as well.

I felt a desire to provide this feedback and it sent me looking for a “Contact Us” section on your site but couldn’t find one.

I believe a “Contact Us” is necessary on all homepages and usually found at the bottom. On this site, I did not find this and I stumbled up the forum; however, it’s unorganized and I don’t know if someone has already made these suggestions. Nor do I care to look because, like most users, I don’t want to spend too much time looking for something. I want it to be idiot-proof and simple. Forum and Contact us should be completely separate things.

“Forums” is usually a page where people can have long drawn-out useless conversations. It isn’t exactly what a user would click on to provide feedback such as this. I believe most people would prefer a contact us page.

Last, as a merchant, I am bothered that multiple listings under one login aren’t possible. If it is, once again- it isn’t user friendly.

I hope this message finds you well and the changes are made.

Have a great weekend
