We love it. It's a great look and the features are really going to develop some leads. The only thing we don't like is that you can't answer questions. But I have sent that to support and it will be soon to be fixed I hope. http://www.merchantcircle.com/busines...

Hi Mark, our team is working on the Questions issue. There is a bug. Thanks for being so patient while we work out the kinks.

Best,

I already have an account but this made it should like I would be updating the account I have. Now I have two accounts, I don't like it. It should ask if one already has an existing account and then ask for that information so they can be linked...why do I need with two accounts? How do I get rid of the one now linked with Facebook?

This is a complete outrage! Merchant Circle's greed has cost us thousands of dollars, thousands of hours and they have deleted all of our efforts overnight replacing them with Google Ads!

For those of you who don't understand how it works, let me explain: Merchant Circle gets paid by Google for every time their Ads are shown or clicked on, Merchant Circle removed major components on our page, such as the "Mayor" status and replaced them with Ads only they can cash in on. Of course they offer a "paid" service to remove the Ads (WITH THEIR LATEST UPGRADE BEING A CLEAR EFFORT TO FORCE US TO PAY), but there is no point, as even if the ads are removed, all of our efforts were removed also and we cannot get back our "Mayor" status.

$3,600 DOLLARS LOST BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
We paid $200/month x 18 months = $3,600 to our developer to send invitations out every morning

Over 1,000 Hours Wasted BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
3 Hours a day x 365 Days = 1,095 Hours Completely Wasted

Our Merchant Circle Mayor Status Lost BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
It took us 18 months of daily effort and a lot of money invested to reach Merchant Circle Mayor Status

Search Engine Placement Lost BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED:
After 18 months of Search Engine Optimization, our Merchant Circle page no longer appears on the 1st page of Google; it doesn't appear at all on the first 10 pages!

FREE Quote Button Now Benefits Our Competitors BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED:
After 18 months of money and effort invested, we had finally received a quote request via the button. Now the button takes you to our competitors... Isn't it just great that Merchant Circle would use our effort and our money to get our page to the 1st page of Google only to remove everything we had worked for and hand the quotes to our competitors? As if it wasn't enough, let's remove all positive results we had achieved through blood, sweat and tears and replace them with Google Ads that only Merchant Circle benefits from.

I agree with the all the "real" comments on this page (there are a lot of fake ones trying to promote positive feedback)... PUT IT BACK, PUT IT BACK, PUT IT BACK!!!

How do you get a small business owner whom you've connected with to be open over the phone?
A lot of small biz owners don't understand what we offer and when we call em up they are very hostile even when you say we connected via merchant circle
Not very impressed with this whole experience.

It sucks. I can't believe you put a "Request a Quote" button on our profiles - one not directed to us, but to anyone - like our competitors. Your new features, like the feed/ticker on the left take visitors away from our pages to someone elses. With platforms so inter-connected right now, I'm surprised you don't have more than a Like or Tweet option. Be nice to share and be interconnected with Google - and Linkedin. I've been bearing with it, hoping you were going to improve things and you regress instead. Yea, get a quote from my competitor . . . sure, even feed their link onto my MC page.

All of my blog posts are either covered up, in the wrong place or just a plain ole scrambled mess. Please,,,Please put it back the way it was. Our business is about to take a HUGE hit over this.

My Listing title is covered up by the get a quote flag. What is up with that? You can't tell it is my business without scrolling halfway down the page.

Directing people away from my page after I worked to get them to my page is wrong. You guys REALLY screwed this up. Get your heads out of your backsides!

I agree. My company name and address is covered up be a get a quote sign. My picture is now that the bottom of the page. The first thing that catches your eye when you pull my listing up is the list of other companies that have viewed my listing. Now, those company names you can see. I want to disconnect MC from my Facebook and Twitter accounts. I don't want potential customer to see this.

This is the REAL reason why the morons at MC removed the Mayor program.

What a freaking joke MC TOTALLY f$cked over EVERY mayor in every city. Site is totally a waste of time now. Greedy bastards did as usual and treated it's members like crap and wanted more AD SPACE so you kicked off the mayors listings.

Traffic for this site has went down according to Alexa by 50% the last year or so because you treat members worse than the Nazi's treated the Jews. Another year or so you'll be the MySpace of local directories.

Mayor status was HUGE you got your listing placed on EVERY other businesses page and were put on the main city page. This was huge! Now MC trying to tell all of us they did it help us OMFG what a joke. They did it to create alot more ad space so they place more annoying Google ads period!

At least I never have to do anything with this worthless site ever again.

Hey Austin,

I'm truly sorry about your frustration with the site. The motivating reason behind the redesign was actually due to traffic falling so drastically in the past year which was not so much a merchant issue as it was an optimization issue (seo).

Mayor Program was a contributing factor to slow page load times which negatively impacted seo.

While there are some definite bugs and issues that need to be resolved with the new design, ultimately it will help bring more traffic to merchant listings, which is the most important thing.

I appreciate your feedback and completely understand your frustration. I do hope that you stick around long enough to see the positive impact these changes will have on the network.

Happy Friday,
Trish

Hey Trish,

If the changes, as you say, are meant to bring more traffic to our listing page then this has been a big FAIL so far. My listing traffic is dropping not growing.

I, like so many others, am EXTREMELY displeased with the changes to the 'Mayor' program and side with Austin on this. There is another feature that seems to be gone too. What has happened to the 'Bulletin Board'?

Again, if the changes are meant to drive more traffic to my listing page, why isn't that happening?

I am mayor of my city as well and I am extremely disappointed in MC relegating the mayor link to the dashboard. What good it that going to do. I agree, we worked very hard to get and maintain that title and resulting business. Plus the sales, promotion designer is not working. I'll give it a few more weeks to fix this then I'm out. Put the mayor back on city pages! It could easily be put next to the top merchant. P.S. I don't like the red/blue generic look of the new website.

MC you need to respond!!! Really, the "Get a Quote" flag is ridiculous and needs to be removed! It completely covers my company information. I'd be interested to know the percentage of companies on MC that actually use this feature. Regarding the screen shots shown in this forum... Did you move your flag to the right or are you just one of the fortunate one's?
Personally, I feel the site looked a lot more together and professional before the change....much of it looks scrambled and just too much info everywhere. Sorry MC, I'm not happy with it. And frankly, you're lack of response to this forum is amazing. If you would respond and give some insights into your thoughts about the changes and why you made them you may find your merchants relax a bit.

Screenshots, we still have everything looking the same as before. We essentially now have 2 pages, not 1. A listing page, where all the problems and concerns are directed, and our Merchant Circle page. Please click on DASHBOARD at top right corner of this clunky Get Satisfaction Forum, and you can see everything as before with MC. You can even make updates, which publishes to this GS thing. IDEA: complete your profile with GS, linking your url, having 2 inbound links to your site, not just 1.

Now people can book an appointment. Oh great another calendar I have to maintain. I am going think about this for a couple days but I am so pissed now I am thinking of having my merchant circle account deleted. There to many things on my profile put there by merchant circle that I DO NOT want and there doesn't appear to be a way to shut it off. Request a quote. Where is that going go to me or some competitor. Book an Appointment. I don't want them booking them. I want them to call or email me and we will book schedule what ever type of meeting is needed.

I think you took a great concept and ruined it.

Why in God's name did you take a GREAT functional site & TOTALLY ruin it? Don't know if you reaolize it but, you have a blue banner that says something about "request a quote" right on top of the company name, address & PHONE NUMBER!!! Now nobody can make a call to any businesses. REAL SMART MOVE!! There's no way to close out the banner!!! What the Hell were you thinking?!!! Now to make matters worse, you can't even see the number of visitors that have been to the site, or how many Google crawler visits have been to the site!!! Whoever came up with this "new" design should be fired & whoever gave the approval to go with it should be put in front of a firing squad!! Next time before you plan on making MAJOR changes to ANY site, try asking ALL the Merchants for their input BEFORE you make the changes. I'm confidant if you had, no one in their right frame of mind would have approved the "new" format. It TOTALLY SUCKS! PLEASE, PLEASE put it back the way it was. It worked just fine! Once is enough Luigi..gezzz. but probably feel the same way loosing thousands. Your mistake is putting all your apples in someone elses' shopping cart. Huge mistake optimizing MC page as your only source being found on the net. You or I do not "Own" this site, having FTP or DNS. Once you do, you can promote, change, update the site ever which way you feel, just like the owners here did, not that I agree with this Micky Mouse look and feel, only trying to get clicks to Their Adsense ads.

Suggest anyone like Luigi, having only MC, Stop, and seek building a website/blog for goodness gracious, being 10 times better than your MC page, like Painting contractors very proud of, providing our services to local Denver residents and businesses, through our own efforts, and no one else. Matter of Fact, site is in Direct Competition with MC, Super Media, YellowBook, Yelp, Service Magic, and all the rest of free directories on the organic web, therefore having preference, always looking to improve my Own site, not near as much as others, linking to me. :) It's time for everyone to pull heads out of the sand, and start smelling the roses.

We are a web design/development company. Not only do we have a website (http://www.LinkWebServices.com) but we also have over 65 Social Network Accounts and over 25 Local Directory Accounts. This is one of the local directories we promoted, not only for ourselves, but as a service to our clients. Merchant Circle's greed has cost us all of our effort for the last 18 months and the effort and dollars our clients have put into it to receive high placement on the directory as well as search engines. This "upgrade" was done without the members benefit in mind, as filling the pages with Google Ads only benefits Merchant Circle and abuses the effort we have put into it by monetizing it for themselves... how nice... we put all the work into making the landing pages perfect so the search engines can find them and Merchant Circle decides to remove all of our rewards (such as the Merchant Circle Status) from the pages and replace them with Ads that only make them money and completely screwing us out of our efforts and money... Yeah, I'll pull my head out of the sand when I'm done letting the world know how we have been treated, but I won't be smelling Merchant Circle's roses as they smell like Sh*t!

Mayor status was HUGE you got your listing placed on EVERY other businesses page and were put on the main city page. This is huge! Now MC trying to tell all of us they did it help us OMFG what a joke. They did it to create alot more ad space so they place more annoying Google ads.

At least I never have to do anything with this worthless site ever again.

Your choice Austin, but stopping for a min. This Is Free + You can put your UrL in this forum, giving you an additional inbound 1 way link back to your $ite. Links are important, and this set up, like or not, is providing 2 different links, not 1 as before. Just find your profile here, enter your url. Yes, more ad space, but they own it. Mayor maybe gone, but oh well. Take a look at my posts and links below ;)

Cal, you were never a mayor, so you don't know the loss that other mayors feel for being f**ked.

We have signed up clients on Merchant Circle... Now Useless

HOLD THE PHONE FOLKS! STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN. TAKE A DEEP BREATH, ALL IS STILL THERE! Will be posting my findings here in a sec. But wanted to put a dampener on all the frustration. Everything is still there, just not in same structure as we are used to seeing. Everything IS STILL THE SAME LOOK AND FEEL!!!

Cal... I agree with Austin Coulson in that I've been working really hard to get the Merchant Circle Mayor spot - I'm only 2 connections away, but now I can't even find where you're supposed to request a connection any more. The list that pops up under the Member Search has never worked properly. As soon as you check all the boxes and request the connections, it comes right back with the same company names, so I had been going to each merchant's page and connecting there. Now, I can't even find it. If you can show me wher it is, I would really appreciate it. The other way just isn and has never worked.

Joni I exactly right. I have had the issues as well. Plus when I get a new connection I scan trough thier connections to see if there are any I want to connect with locally. Now I have to go to the network and put that name in and hope it comes up in the search. Sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it does.

It takes to much time to use the network option. MC Needs to put back the invite option on the profile. On the old site if it wasn't there you knew you were connected already.

Time is important and I invested many long hours building the connections and I am done with it. It may look good but the functionality stinks. Get a Quote to my competitors MUST be removed. I tried in the advanced settings but it did not remove it.

What gets me is that theres a banner at the top of THIS page saying their staff is here to help; and it stands to reason, that a company rolling out a new setup, that has setup this "get satisfaction" forum have to be monitoring how it's going . . . yet they sit there mute as this ravaging is going on - ANYONE HOME UPSTAIRS MERCHANT CIRCLE ? Comon, you couldn't have put up a redo and immediately go home . . . say something . . . where the hell you at ???

gO to link below, click on Dashboard. I think MC incorporated a whole nother system to work with what they already had to begin with. Also think this is a way to get LEEDS to us, as all of our links, blogs, likes, fav. friends, attributes all still there.
IDEA: Go back from here, login your profile here, put your URL in, which will give you 1 more inbound link to your site. Knowing this is a different url than MC. ) Look up top in browser bar ;)

Cal, this upgrade stinks - why are you trying so hard to defend it? I appreciate where you are coming from, but it is not "all good" - the only thing that is the same is the dashboard (options that don't work and all)
-where is the connect button?
-why do you have to click & scroll so much? It's gone backwards in user friendliness and intuitiveness
-can't get rid of the quote button that is turned off in the dashboard - you might want it Cal, but I don't
-gallery is hidden - I wanted that and had it placed in a prominent position on my page, now it's 2 clicks away if you scroll to find where you click
-and the mayor program that offered the main bonus of advertising on the company pages is GONE - maybe not a problem for a small town - but it takes a lot of work in Vegas - all that time gone and without any warning.
It's stinks to say the very least.

Hey VastArray,

We apologize for any frustration with the new site. There are a few bugs going on.

There is a temporary bug with the connect feature, it will be back soon.

Also, the Service Request isn't supposed to show up on registered listings and is being removed. Service Requests is intended to show up on UNCLAIMED listings only and direct searching customers to claimed merchant listings.

We appreciate your patience as we work hard to optimize the recent changes. All changes have been made to improve load time, search-ability, and boost ranking for the entire network. Some of this had to be done at the expense of other features, like the Mayor Program which did little to boost the visibility of the merchant network in external search engines (Like Google). It was a great inner-networking tool though.

We truly appreciate your patience and hope you stick around to enjoy the benefit of the new and improved site. . . once we work out the kinks (give us a couple weeks).

Best,

Trish,

I didn't use MC as an SEO tool as much as an "inner-networking tool", so for me you've taken away a huge reason to engage on the site, and thrown out hours and hours of my time that I have dedicated to becoming mayor with no warning which equates to MC having no regard for that time or understanding of the value that was placed on that competition by the people engaging in it.

Thanks for removing the quote button, can we put the company logo back on the top of the page and the gallery back in place of an ad above the fold?

Best,

if they thought for a second that the dashboard was a good place for advertising there would be paid advertising there. Putting the mayor in this positing is not worth the time spent to reach the top in a big city and does nothing to advertise to clients outside the city as they would have their own mayor's info there. They rolled out a program and lots of us invested time into it now they've changed it with no warning - not "all good"

Cal, thats just the damn dashboard that WE see - it's not the profile page that site visitors see. The worst thing is the Quote feature - you would think it was for a quote from your biz, BUT it's to get a quote from ANY one. So if someone visits your MerchantCircle page, if they want to comparison shop with your competitors, Merchant Circle made it easy for them to do so - those quotes should only come from the merchant whose page it is.

It's not free - time & energy has been invested based on the promises of a program that clearly was popular - paid service or not. Yes, things change, however the company gave no warning and let us go investing in a program that surely took months to work on and implement. MC made a bad pr move here along with less than adequate programming and a bad roll-out campaign. How's the saying go? "fool me once..."

Answers is broken.... when you click on answer this question, it just jumps down the page.... looking at the backend is showing some javascript errors...

I know a huge site like yours undergoing a major update can cause a significant amount of things to go unforeseen... I hope you guys will figure it out very soon, best of luck.
