My listing no longer reflects me of my business at all. It was great to be able to go to a listing, see a company name and logo then just scroll down to see blogs, reviews, recommedations and coupons. Now my logo / picture is at the bottom of the page and everything else is hidden in tabs. All these tabs are frustrating. Customers and clients and not going to want to go through all of this. They'll just go to another site. By the way. does it seem to anyone else that the ads are now the same size as your listing? The whole listing is just to busy now. These cookie cutter listings are not going to attract anyone. I need to spend less time with MC and more with my Facebook page and website.

Good point Cal. And if improving seo is the reason why is our about information below People Who Viewed This Also Viewed. That I hope will be addressed as well. Our business info should be up at the top if SEO is truely the reason for this change.

While we are add why not allow us to have a image of our logo at the top. Not just in the photo gallery but like facebook you can designate a image which could be your logo to be at the top. Would go a long ways for business recognition

People MerchantCircle is nothing more than a company (hundreds out there doing this) that took every business listing off the Yellow Page and put them online. 95% of the listings on MC are dead or unclaimed listings with no value.

The people that built MC and gave it any value are the local business owners that generate 100% OF ALL CONTENT FOR FREE for MC to profit from. We write the blog and forum posts, we fill out our profiles in detail, we upload the pictures and videos, we leave the hundreds of thousands of comments on each other's profiles and blog/forum posts.

WE ARE MERCHANTCIRCLE, sadly MC is oblivious to this point.

This is what we ALL must do, stop ALL payments to MC right away that your paying.Second do not login into your account, don't generate any content anymore, don't do anything!

In 3 months MC will lose another 50% or more of there traffic and fall to 2000-2500 or lower on Alexa.

They have already lost HALF of there traffic the last year or so, meaning they have lost HALF of there GOOGLE ADSENSE revenues, meaning they have lost HALF there company revenues. This is why there making our profiles looks like crap adsense farms that Google has stated publicly they hate.

This is why they got rid of that huge mayor of MC banner on every page, by getting rid of that it allows them to add 3-4 Google Adsense banners and that was probably also one of the first thing people clicked before on every page and they don't want that.

They want people to click there ad sense ads, NOT call or email us. They make no money helping us. MC makes I'd say 80-90% or more of there money from Adsense since there customer service is so awful and products suck.

The page load crap answer for why they got rid of the most valuable thing (Mayor program) in MC, is the most BS lie there is. I have been a online marketer for 12+ years, built this little business (one of many I own) from $0 to 6-figures on $16.95 a month in 7 months (a few years back) because I'm a $200 per hour SEO consultant and use SEO/social media for myself and clients nationwide.

They are insulting your intelligence when they say they got rid of the Mayor program for page load reasons, page loading time is 1 of like 100+ factors in Google's formula any knowledgeable SEO person knows that. But that is the answer the higher ups and have told Trisha to spin it as.

MC = Netflix diaster in 2011 or SOPA in 2012!!!

I worked hard to become mayor and stay on top as mayor. Now that its gone I am not sure how much longer I will want to be a part of Merchant Circle. I have cancelled my paid services with Merchant Circle and I urge others to follow and cancel their paid services. This is all wrong.

I've been watching this forum the last few days to see how MerchantCircle (MC) would opt to respond. As someone who was originally dismayed by these changes - I'm glad to see MC did finally offer response on this.

That said if I might make some friendly points of observation please for MC consideration:

1) I wish you would move your - People Who Viewed This Also Viewed - call to action (to OTHER merchants) on each individual's merchants page to somewhere other then the prominant spot you now feature these ads at.

If you truthfully - "would love even more if customers could easily connect with merchants online." then you would move these ads somewhere other then in the center of all of the merchants pages (Info, Products, Offers, Newsletter) .

If I were a consumer coming to this site there would be a reason I would be on the specific Merchant's page.... To learn more about that THAT Specific merchant - NOT to be slammed with a giant advertisement to go look somewhere else. From a consumer standpoint that's just tacky and would chase me OFF the site altogether. From a merchant standpoint it takes away all value of even being listed on this site at all.

This - People Who Viewed This Also Viewed - section really needs to go. Particularly since you already have - "Related Businesses" and "Other Local businesses" listed on the side bar already... You don't need to destroy the Merchants page by also readvertisng these other businesses in the middle of each page.

Are you truly after allowing customers to connect with merchants, where "nothing was done that was not for the benefit of the merchant (and consumer) network"... OR are you simply trying to be an obnoxious advertising space as you have now designed the pages as?

2) On the Products page...The heading and text that are under the logo are all cut in 1/2 so you can't read any of that text. I'm curious what your programmers see the value of this as being... to the merchant... OR the consumer?

Otherwise I am glad to see that you are at least now responding and trying to make an effort to address the other very real concerns that have been addressed above.

Rob has got a GREAT point! Why is it MC chose to put a redirect box before the vistor has a chance to read about the merchant he/she selected to visit? Wrong place for the 'People Who Viewed This Also Viewed' box.

This is Andy Halliday, the VP Content at Reply, and I just want everyone to know that here at MerchantCircle there is active discussion underway about the feedback you have been giving us, and we are considering all of it carefully. Give us a little time to digest the reactions and we will be in touch here on this thread with updates on our plans.

Thanks Andy for chiming in. That's Great management is indeed listening. Removing many of my comments last night, trying to help, I felt out numbered, and most going to deaf ears. I would like to suggest even the Big Boys like google, twitter, youtube gives the opportunity to switch back and forth from old version to newer one. This allows the site to work all bugs out, before making it the only choice, which I believe would help all parties, keeping the esprit de corps. Thanks again!

I just counted the number of advertising links to my competitors on my MC front page. There were ONLY 14! AND... They stick out like a sore thumb! I hope all our competetors appreciate how much we are promoting them.

I knew they were there before but at least you could find MY company information without having to really look for it.

NOW add to that, the more than 50 links on the page that take the viewer away from my page. (Start with the HUGE RED BAR) that is the focal point of the page.

It might be worth noting how Google looks at the pages that are saturated with ads.

http://www.webpronews.com/googles-alg...

I fully recognize that MerchantCircle has every right in the world to do this. No one is compelled to be here. HOWEVER---- >>> MC gets business listings from some database supplier and lists everyone's business without their knowledge or consent. What they don't have a right to do is promote one thing, say one thing, and DO something totally different. The "Mayor" example is quite obvious.

It is really pretty sad that everyones' time and effort has been waisted!

Okay, now that we have all bashed the hell out of MC, I'm totally sure they get the point. I am equally sure that they would like to resolve all of these issues, keep everyone happy and continue to increase their company revenues which they have all the right in the world to do.

That being said, I think it would be very appropriate for us to turn this into a "Let's help MC fix it" opportunity.

Let's try and get a little creative and offer constructive ideas to help fix all of this and help MC to increase its revenues in the process. I think they call that a "Win, Win" situation.

I will put some thoughs together and post them.

Thanks for listening!

This is a complete outrage! Merchant Circle's greed has cost us thousands of dollars, thousands of hours and they have deleted all of our efforts overnight replacing them with Google Ads!

For those of you who don't understand how it works, let me explain: Merchant Circle gets paid by Google for every time their Ads are shown or clicked on, Merchant Circle removed major components on our page, such as the "Mayor" status and replaced them with Ads only they can cash in on. Of course they offer a "paid" service to remove the Ads (WITH THEIR LATEST UPGRADE BEING A CLEAR EFFORT TO FORCE US TO PAY), but there is no point, as even if the ads are removed, all of our efforts were removed also and we cannot get back our "Mayor" status.

$3,600 DOLLARS LOST BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
We paid $200/month x 18 months = $3,600 to our developer to send invitations out every morning

Over 1,000 Hours Wasted BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
3 Hours a day x 365 Days = 1,095 Hours Completely Wasted

Our Merchant Circle Mayor Status Lost BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED
It took us 18 months of daily effort and a lot of money invested to reach Merchant Circle Mayor Status

Search Engine Placement Lost BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED:
After 18 months of Search Engine Optimization, our Merchant Circle page no longer appears on the 1st page of Google; it doesn't appear at all on the first 10 pages!

FREE Quote Button Now Benefits Our Competitors BECAUSE OF MERCHANT CIRCLE'S GREED:
After 18 months of money and effort invested, we had finally received a quote request via the button. Now the button takes you to our competitors... Isn't it just great that Merchant Circle would use our effort and our money to get our page to the 1st page of Google only to remove everything we had worked for and hand the quotes to our competitors? As if it wasn't enough, let's remove all positive results we had achieved through blood, sweat and tears and replace them with Google Ads that only Merchant Circle benefits from.

I agree with the all the "real" comments on this page (there are a lot of fake ones trying to promote positive feedback)... PUT IT BACK, PUT IT BACK, PUT IT BACK!!!

Bill, the main emphasis of MC is Adsense, hoping to make much more with click through from all of our pages. The Big City Search, rolling out new format has links, but further down the page, towards the bottom. Review link & company info. at the Top, as well as giving option viewing old version or new. But then, City Search, Kudzu, MC, Yelp, Google profiles, Local Yahoo are just directory listings with different bells and whistles, all linking back to your most [important] site.

My suggestions are:
1. Move the business about information up near the top, People that have viewed the page should be below as well as google ads.

2. Allow us to have logo near the top instead of down in the about section. But if the about information is moved up higher that would help. Remember it is about Identity and those that have logos on the page I am sure would like to see those show up higher on the pages.

3. Fix Invite button. MC has stated earlier that is broke and will be fixed this week.

4. I know it is a broken record but bring the mayor program back as it was. I now have more interest in it as I broke the top 10 in Chicago in just 2 months. It took me many hours of work to go from 20 Chicago connections to 10th position in 2 months. And I had plans to be in the top 5 by the end of next month.

5. Get a quote is still on the products page. It appears to be gone from the others. If MC brings back the Get a quote and it doesn't go to that merchant I think many will leave once they realize it.

Sounds like you need to webmaster your own site and not come to a community area for Business's and work 24/7 at trolling your way to the top over business's that use this site with the propper spirit and do not have the time to troll like you do. The problem is within you & you tring to trounce on other business's by trolling for hours. Get a life Robert, workhard in a normal capacity , put your time in & do not try to Troll your way to the top. People do not like it & web crawlers are getting smarter to deal with people of your mindset.

Hey MC! I am PAYING a fee to NOT have other advertising show on my page. The 'People Who Viewed This Page Also Viewed' IS AN ADVERTISEMENT for OTHER businesses. Either refund my money for this month or get it off of my page!
My company listing isn't formatted correctly. There are old products that have been deleted that still show. If you view our city's page my company no longer shows even though we are the "Mayor". That was the only benefit to this service. If things have changed and there is a fee involved please lets us know, other than that this is a waist of time as the new site really distorts our ad.

Depending on the computer I use, The "products Tab" does not display properly. Half of the information is gone or is not showing, unless you click on the "more" link, to see the full description.

Instead of seeing "Moon Jell-eze" , I'm only seeing "eze" along with the right-side half of the paragraph.

So, maybe if you move the "Get A Free Quote" to somewhere else, there would be room on my ad to display properly.

My small 10" Netbook with Windows XP seams to display it ok, but not on my home computer with Windows 7. However, I really do not think Windows is the issue.

You can follow this link to see for yourself. http://www.merchantcircle.com/busines...

I really believe this new format should have been tested in beta before releasing it. You still have some "bug" issues to resolve.

I thought mabye on the Products page the Get a quote was because I had not listed any products. So I listed them and it is still there and the page is truncating the first 7 or 8 characters of each line on the products.

Put it back the way it was. It's now an ugly site and not user friendly and kinda creepy for its template look. I'm not sure about the stats but MC does seem to have dropped out of the picture. I, also, would not now recommend the new site to others though I have recommended MC to several of my business friends in the past. I was looking to do some upgrading and enhancement on this site but will wait until it reappears in a worthy format.
