What Is The Difference Between Organic & Paid Placement?

Visit one of the top search engines, run a search for a certain set of keywords and you will be given both free and paid links. The free links you see are “organic” or based on rankings that are determined by free activities like content creation and link structure. The paid links you see are “sponsored” or based on a cost per click/impression basis.

Organic Placement is based off of “Natural” user generated content. The great thing about this placement is that it doesn’t cost a business a dime, it’s free but it takes routine work to move up the ladder in search results. As a local business owner, you have a lot of control over how your business places in natural search results. The more often you write unique content, the higher your business will place in search results, which improves your overall online visibility.

Paid placement, or SEM “Search Engine Marketing” is known to be the top section and the sidebar or column down the right side of the page. Anything outside of these two areas is known to be organic placement. Paid placement is the quickest and most effective way to immediately be on top of your competition. Paying for top placement while you’re waiting to be ranked organically is a solid plan when you are getting started.

    I set up my MC page around October of 2010.

    Then for the most of last year I paid for the MC promotion package (the cheapest one).

    In the meantime I have added quite a lot of images/products to my listing all with descriptive titles and keywords; posted on the forum fairly often, answered lots of the Q&A questions and posted a blog article or two.

    In just over a year, my brand new MC page rose to a Google page rank of #4. That is HUGE, especially for only a year's time! Probably mainly to the MC promo service, but I also know my content has helped because when I do a search for my business in Google, pages and pages of the results are simply my content postings I just mentioned.

    Why??? would someone want a high page rank? (It is different from search results). A high page rank is basically the value that Google places on webpages. New sites are always at 0. Then a rank from 1-10 is what website owners aim for, 10 being the highest.

    When pages are ranked high, others like to be linked to you. When other quality sites link to you, your site gets higher up in the search results.

  • Unless a quick turn around is needed, I suggest companies spend their advertising dollars enhancing their website so as to perform better in organic search results. Once you pay for a click, that money is long gone. Fence Atlanta | Fence Company
