The new beta of Windows Live Messenger (from download.live.com) hyperlinks phone numbers in IE and links them to livecall: URIs.

I believe Skype also has a similar add-in.

What's your communication program?

Programming language probably doesn't matter; you could write using managed or unmanaged code. Probably (guessing) a COM interface somewhere.

IE Browser Extensions:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...

I would guess it would match based on a regular expression (RegEx), but I've never written one so I don't know.

It might be better if you found someone with experience to contract this sort of thing to. Elance.com might be a good place to start. Otherwise check out open source project sites (codeplex.com, sourceforge.net, Google Code, etc.) to see if there are any similar projects you could study and learn from.

That's about all the help I can give on this topic since I've never written one myself.

Good luck,
Chris
