Can't manually install a driver; went through device manager-> update driver -> browse my computer -> let me pick -> uncheck compatible drivers. BUT IT WONT LET ME CHOOSE THE FILE! I know where it is and that I need it but I can't choose it. How can I install it? Also the window isn't resizable. bad.

Windows 7 is more strict about driver installation, depending on which version you have. For example, unsigned drivers cannot be installed on 64-bit builds and some drivers did not pass logo requirements for Windows 7. Can you be more specific about which driver for which hardware? Also is this 32-bit or 64-bit?

As per mr. Bruce Shankle - you cannot install drivers as in Windows XP. you have to install updated and signed driver for that version of Windows 7.
The best way to install the driver is through Windows Update. All drivers will installed through windows update and you will have no problem.

Whatever the type of window 7 all the driver issues will be automatically resolved by windows update.
