Mac Silverlight Failures

I have a 2.33 Ghz. MacbookPro with 3 gigs of RAM.
I am running OS X 10.4.11, which is the most up-to-date version of "Tiger".

I can install Silverlight v. 1.0.30715.0
I cannot install SL 3.0
I cannot find SL 2.0 (or any sub-version) to download to try to install.

I cannot use the watch instantly function on netflix.com when using "1.0". The website tells me that my browser is incompatible (which is not true; my setup meets all of their published requirements)

The installer for the SL 1.0 functions perfectly well, as expected.

When I try to install SL 3.0, everything seems to work well; there are no error messages. However, when I use the Firefox built-in add-on checker, Silverlight simply does not show up at all.

When I install the "1.0" version, and go to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlig... (the get-started webpage), it tells me that everything is properly installed.

After installing the "3.0" version, the above-mentioned website tells me that I need to download and install Silverlight; it does not recognize that I just tried to do that.

Editations [changed "MacPro" to "MacbookPro"]
[added information about the "Silverlight Get-Started page"]

Is this an Intel-based Macbook or a PowerPC?

The installation window insists that the installation was "successful," but there is no change. The add-on does not appear in my Firefox add-on viewer, and the Silverlight website informs me that I need to download and install Silverlight.

In short, no change. I believe this to be the same installer to which I referred to above as "3.0".

I installed with browsers closed, as instructed.

Is it possible that one of my other add-ons is effecting the functioning of Silverlight? Are there any known incompatibilities?

So, after asking me a flurry of questions, can I have the satisfaction of knowing that my problem has at least been diagnosed, even if there is not yet a solution?
