My windows vista Computer freezes up every 5 minutes

When i am browsing the internet , my computer freezes up , i cant use alt + ctrl + Del , i cant even put caps lock on. The mouse or keyboard dont work either. I thought about reinstalling windows but is it neccesary.

could you revert to a good, previously saved restore point? could be that you have if you introduced new software or downloaded a file that coincided with the trouble you're seeing. that would be a good start. once done, run your anti-virus scanning software, and consider downloading and running the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool to remove any problem software it might find. And if you recently installed Vista SP1 you might consider contacting your computer manufacturer's tech support directly, or Microsoft customer service - see my other threads on this forum for info on obtaining support.

I would use Tuneup Utilities to help boost your pc. The 2010 version now has a turbo mode that you can turn on permanently so your computer doesn't have so much of a workload. Unfortunately, it costs about 30 dollars. You could probably look on Youtube on how to get it for free. I wouldn't recommend it because they are cracking down on the serials.
