I need to reinstall Microsoft "Office/Student" or something that sounds like that. My hard drive was replaced recently on my laptop. I had three copies of the above installed on my home and office computers. I can't locate the disc, but I do have the log-in key (25 digits). Please help me. Thanks very much.

I'm not 100% sure this will work, but I suspect you can download the free trial version of "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007" and then use your product key to convert it to the full non-trial version.

Had I issue like yours recently and email MS support:

They came back with these instructions.
Assuming the three copies are all on the same key, this should work

1. Open Word 2007; an Activation Wizard window will pop-up above the Word 2007 window.
2. Select the 2nd option: Telephone Activation and click on Next.
3. On the following window call the Activation Department number as displayed in Step 2 and follow the steps on the automated activation process to activate Office 2007 on the new computer.
While doing this remember: if you are asked about how many computers you have this copy of Office 2007 installed or activated on – select the option that it is only installed on 1 computer – just this computer on which you are activating.

By doing this your activation on the new computer would be accepted and you would be provided a Confirmation ID to enter in Step 3 of the activation to complete activation of Office 2007 on your computer.

In case the above steps still do not work then following these steps: In order to resolve this issue we will have to delete the Office Activation File: OPA12.dat off all computers and then re-activate all of your copies of Office 2007 using the telephone activation option.

1. Close all open applications and windows and return to the desktop.
2. Click on Start and then on Computer.
3. On the my computer window click on the Organize drop-down button and then on the drop-down click on Folder and Search Options.
4. On the new Folder and Search Options window click on the View tab.
.4. On the new Folder and Search Options window click on the View tab.
5. Find Hidden files and folders and select the option Show hidden files and folders and under this option un-tick the option Hide extensions for known file types and click on APPLY followed by OK.
Close the Computer window.
Click on Start and then on Run. (If the Run option is not available in the Start Menu of your Windows 7 computer, follow these steps to add Run onto the Start Menu. Right-click on the Start Button and then click on 'Properties'. Click on the 'Customize' button for the Start Menu. Scroll down the list and put a tick mark for the 'Run Command' option. Click on OK and APPLY and OK buttons)
Now copy and paste the following command in the Run box: %AllUsersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\DataClick on the OK button.
On the Data window that open find the OPA12.dat file.
Rename the file/s by right-clicking on the file/s and clicking on Rename. Rename the file/s as OPA12.old by removing the extension .dat and replacing it with .oldClose the Data folder window and return to your desktop. After the above steps are completed follow the telephone activation steps as mentioned above to activate Office 2007.

Hope this helps!
