Why is Microsoft truly better than Apple? Smart answers here please, folks, none of the "BECAUSE IT IS, LOL!". What makes Microsoft the company it is today and what makes Apple so "bad" and Microsoft so "good"? All the answers I've ever heard on the internet were Apple and Microsoft fan boys screaming in all caps trying to win by volume rather than reason.

What's your take?

My problem is that currently Apple and its fanboys are still shouting "We have better hardware, and We are better at media and video things" When I have to use a mac for Broadcasting I have learned that macs are as buggy as a pc. Except on a mac there is no way to fix the issues. There is no access to drivers, and all settings and such are locked or hidden away in the os. It's impossible to fix. Plus your hardware is no longer superior, as nice as Apple's dual core laptop processors are, they don't compare to the worst of quad core processors which kick their ass. They refuse to adopt blue ray, and they lack personalization as to the physical appearance and digital appearance. And I know this one from experience, Macs are not better at video things. How can you tell me that when your operating system will not support the transfer of files over 4 GB to external devices. I had to transfer raw footage to a flash drive and i couldn't cause it was 5gb. Is this a joke? Your OS cannot transfer large files to FAT storage devices... Just pathetic.

the transfer of files over 4gb cannot be done on a FAT32 filesystem. for that you need ntfs or some such.

ok 1. Microsoft windows 7 is the best operating system since windows xp no doubt but Apple is more focused right now on there hardware like there ipods there iphones and ipads you know?, and 2.Microsoft is leading in Gaming also. why doesnt apple take a shot at that if they can make everything touchscreen and so good let them go there cause thats a tough task to do is go into the gaming platform. 3. MACs (from my experience) are fairly slower then windows 7 witch i am using. MACs dont support all the games on there computers and MAC doesnt have a good op. i feel its more buggy then a PC its to slow i used windows 7 for 3 months straight picked up a mac book and it wasnt the same the mac book was to slow and you cant really customize it the way you can with a windows (Microsoft) computer. it just doesnt make sense apple is not good in any way shape or form except for there ipods and iphones (witch freeze alot).
overall microsoft is a better franchise and was brought up by high school drop outs.

No doubt. Win 7 is the best Windows OS. Macs, IMO, are a lot faster then any Windows OS. even when my own Windows Comp had a better graphics card and core 2 quad 2.66 CPU, compared to my macbooks intergrated graphics and core 2 duo 2.4 GHz CPU, my macbook is still a lot faster. As for games, thats what the consoles are for. There are more games on a mac now (Steam on Mac!) And buggy? On Vista, everytime I try to delete an old icon on desktop, the Explorer freezes. wtf?

Customize? you don't need to customize! and My iPod touch, and my friends iPhone have never freezed before. Microsoft is loosing ground to apple, Apple is becoming more popular. Why? because of Vista, and because of Microsofts OS. I can install games, but I can't run them. Stupid.

Macs aren't really that fast, it's just because they have not many startup programs so they seem faster. Also it does seem Windows breaks down after a couple of years... any new installers and sometimes system dialogs wont open and slow down my computer alot and then I hit CTRLALTDELETE and when it opens in a minute the other thing does too...
Apple is evil now btw

No. This Windows computer doesn't have that much to start up. My mac has a desktop hider, Printer control center, Appcleaner, etc.
Yet sometimes the right click box crashes explorer, and even if it doesn't it takes forever to load, and even going into a simple folder takes forever.
Then again, my mac is 32/64 bit (Snow leopard)

You are uneducated. (unless you have dual boot. LMFAO I highly doubt that) You don't have a 32/64 bit Snow Leopard. You have a 32 OR 64 bit snow leopard. go to the services section on your computer and actually look how much its running as opposed to your mac.

and you are telling me you've never had to force quit a program on a mac? or waited on that colored wheel? bull. and you know it.

your pc likely has extras to start up too that you don't know about or that don't appear in the system tray. PCs seem slower because they open things while showing you their progress. Linux waits until the application is loaded to show you.

I personally like Microsoft more, because Microsoft is more user-friendly than Apple. If you compare Windows 7 to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Windows 7 has more opportunities to personalise, while Mac OS X Snow Leopard is more practical and simple. Based on the companies themselves, Microsoft aims to people of all ages and levels of experience(i.e, making their products simple to use for 11 year olds like me) and Apple is more for the work-orientated person. Plus also Microsoft has been renowned for it's products.

When it comes to the arguement over whether Windows or Mac has the better software, I completely side with Microsoft. That is not to say that I've never had experience with a Mac OS - I learned computers using a Mac, but I've made the decision that Windows is the better chice for me - it's simply a personal preferrence. In a way, I'm one of the rare Mac-to-PC converts. I like Windows because I prefer the customizable asthetics of Aero to the mandatory brushed-aluminum of OS10, and I also prefer the number of choices where hardware is concerned available to Windows users - if you don't care for a Macbook's keyboard or oversized, button-less touchpad, you can find a plethora of Dells, HPs, and Lenovos that can accomodate your taste. In addition to the ability to customize your system, there is the ability to have this luxury without a $1000 base price. My machine was around $600 and is configured the way I want it for a price that fits my college student budget. Getting back to the software itself, I really like the fact that my OS (Windows 7 HP x64) can support almost any game I want - and what you can't play on 7, you can play on XP without issue. On the subject of reliability, I find 7 to be the best I've ever used - it hasn't crashed on me yet, and I've used it since the RC back in mid-2009; in fact, since the disaster that was Win ME (another story), I have never had major issues with crashing or lock-ups, and with the few that I've dealt with, a quick restart was typically all that was required. In addition to not having problems with crashing, I've never been troubled by malware or viruses, and the new versions of Norton and AVG are completely unintrusive and do a good job. As for claims of low-performance on Windows PCs, my economy PC manages to run the software without any hesitation and runs all of my programs likewise. Nobody is perfect, and that of course includes Microsoft - they have had some bad products over the years, like the hell that was ME, and substandard products like Vista, but in the long run, I believe that their better products (XP/7) outweigh the occasional misstep. So, there's my opinion on the matter - I'm no IT pro or developer, but I don't have to be to know what I want, and that, in essence, is the whole base of the PC vs. Mac arguement - what you want. For me, the choice is Windows, but if a Mac floats your boat, then by all means, have a blast.

Oh my lord.
Even though it was stated in the original topic post, a good number of you are still comparing the hardware of a "microsoft pc" to a mac.

First off, MICROSOFT DOESNT MAKE COMPUTERS. They make operating systems to run on other companies' hardware (HP, Dell, Intel, AMD, Gateway, Toshiba, Kingston, Corsair, Thermaltake, etc.) The thing that you seriously don't get is that you are comparing your $500 presario to a $1200 iMac.

Let's look at specifications.
The $1200 iMac
-3.06ghz i3 Processor - Dual Core
-4gb memory - ddr3
-500gb hdd
-an 8x dvd/cd writer
-ati radeon 4670 with 256mb memory
-21 inch screen (1080p)
-mouse and keyboard

what you really should get with $1200 (and actually can)
-3.06ghz i7 processor - Quad Core
-8gb memory - ddr3 1333mhz
-1tb hdd (1 tb is 1024gb)
-a 22x dvd/cd combo drive
-2 Sli Ready GeForce 450's with 1gb memory each
-mouse & keyboard
-22inch Led Lcd Monitor /w speakers
-Cool, White Computer case (Ultra, Mid-tower, comes with 800 watt psu and thermaltake cpu fan).

*I used very trusted and reliable hardware for this build: Intel, Corsair, Gigabyte, Ultra, Thermaltake, Samsung, Seagate

ok. in comparison.
-iMac has portibility.
-$1200 system has 2 additional cores in the processor (same company/brand/everything)
-$1200 system has 2x the memory (8gb at 1333mhz)
-$1200 system has 2 simultaneously working graphics cards that are both newer and each one has 4x the dedicated memory of the 1 that the iMac has
-$1200 system has a bigger display (which is led baclit and SUPER bright)
-$1200 system has a faster cd/dvd combo drive
-$1200 system has a 100% bigger hard drive

Now there is no +, - to having windows/osx on your system.
You can do a lot more than you need to with windows, you can do what you need to on a mac

Seriously guys? save your money for things that aren't just shiny.

Apple devices break, get bugs, THEY CAN GET VIRUSES. damn. I'm half tempted to write a mass-produced unix code virus so that people with quit using that as an excuse. This website can explain it for you ignorant people. -http://www.kernelthread.com/publicati...

Ok, well I can't say I didn't expect the only comment in excess of 20 profain words and with atrocious use of grammar to come from a Mac user. Perhaps instead of blatantly giving a grotesque paroxysm of ignorant bias, you could give one true reason that would justify your opinion that wasn't brainwashed into your skull by one of Apple's insecure and completely untrue "Get a Mac" ads or by some other lie about Microsoft that was carelessly made up and strewn about all over their website, then you might come one brain cell closer to being capable of at least being able to convince someone else with an I.Q. less than 25 to want to buy a Mac.

Need hi-performance/bespoke system: Linux.

For pretty much everything else: Mac.

Lol damn this thing got heated. It's been 8 months since I last posted. As a final word from me, I have actually tried macs and I actually ended up selling my $3300 Microsoft pc for a MacBook air, iPhone, iPod, and iPad 2.

Long live macs!

Just kidding, I'm not stupid enough to fall victim to apple's "do everything you've already been able to do, you were just too uneducated to know about it campaign."

For all those ifanboys out there and m$ haters commenting on how pc's are prone to viruses as hell, if u ifanboys don't know how to use a pc get educated first. Have been using MSE for the past (i even forgot since when),kicked asses of all the virus infections i've had so far i've been usin it. A pc would do great even without an antivirus provided one keeps a system restore point handy always (do disk clean n remove the earlier one to save disk space). n all those who would say abt wicked viruses that leave you with nothing but a blank screen & how to access your restore point then??? Boot using "safe mode with command prompt" n use "rstrui.exe". And in case of those hideously infected removable drives don't explore or open them up right away, instead enable the desktop toolbar browse to the file in your device n access it (cut it, copy it, paste it, watever). PC's are a billion light years better than a ifan's ignorance as to using a computer. Oh for the record, I, uh, don't see apple certified to be used at the Space station (Steve Jobs didn't invent the thinkpad, did he???). Y does the macbook pro not have slots for expandability at a pocket dentng price of over 2000 dollars???

Microsoft Windows is hands down more open. Apple is good for the technically challenged people. If you are good with technology, you would probably favor Windows. The reason Apple gets less viruses, is because it doesn't support as many things. Apple has great mobile devices great for doing mobile things. But if you want to create, Windows offers more. It is also more compatible with alot more different things. So there really isn't a ''who is better'' because they specialize in different stuff. I personally would use Windows for creating and home stuff and use Apple for on the go. So here is the main picture, Windows is more compatible with a wide range of software and Apple is good for mobile, on the go things.

No it doesn't. Android, ps3 are all Linux. I use Ubuntu, its so much better than crappy Windows. Windows exploits its users. see this: http://windows7sins.org/
Microsoft makes .odt and forces people to use it as default. If I want to use something else, I dont have choice as I cant see what the odt for mat has so that it can be ported to something like libreoffice.

And by the way LINUX IS FREE, NOT AS IN PRICE OR BEER BUT AS IN FREEDOM. red hat still sells linux, Linux is much more easier to use and out of the box for me. i used Macs before but didnt like them much.

I dont know much about computers, but this is just my experience.

I got an interview with Microsoft tomorrow , and I just wanted to put my two cents in. Apple is good for what they do. They have a decent product and sells well. The thing that people dont understand is that is that Apple is only popular through their marketing skills. If you compare the mac book pro vs. the Sony viao Z series you can clearly see who is the victor. They have the same specs, except, sony is made out of carbon fiber, it is two pounds lighter, longer battery life, and 200 dollars cheaper. People still get mac book pro because of how it is presented in the media. Apple use to brag how they were virus free, but they were virus free because a small population of people have it. In recent years they increased their sells and what happened they got hacked. so they changed their slogan from virus free to built in virus protection. Honestly if you had to hack someone you would hack a Windows user. Wall street uses windows. Why hack something that doesnt have any money. Apple also promotes that they are simple and easy to use. Although that may be true, people dont realize that when you get simplicity , you also get restriction. You are not able to do as much as a PC user can do. There are more programmers and developers using windows than apple. Justin bieber and one direction shouldnt be called muscians cause their music is crap, but you cant hate that they got like 7 platinum albums between them. Just like apple...

One word: Exchange.

Apple has never managed to effectively sync vital information between devices. Steve Jobs said himself that MobileMe wasn't good, and it really wasn't (I never had so much trouble keeping my contacts up to date, duplications, changes that got lost, and a lot of frustrated people who kept getting e-mails to their old addresses even although I had updated them 3 times).

iCloud is better, but the sharing options are still not very good. There are still plenty of bugs, and it treats each element in a shared calendar like an invitation, so you get constant invitation notices on all your devices. Also, you need Apple hardware to be able to have an iCloud account, so sharing calendars outside of the mac world is only partially possible.

Then you can add to that all the display functionalities, sharing of contacts, access rights, etc. etc.

All this has made me conclude, Macs are great as a consumer product, but when you try to use their built in software for business, then they are just not up to scratch.

I disagree. apple is millions of times better than apple. I have been a 30 year windows user but my 2 year old toshiba crashed and I went with apple. It has been the best computer I have ever owned. It is not slow, I don't have to go through constant updates, and it is just a simple intuitive os.

P.S: I looked it up jobs let gates have a mac and gates basically stole the os, tweaked it, and released a version in japan.

anyone who would choose a windows op over a mac has never been hacked or just too stupid to realise it
windows has so many security breaches, use the kiss rule bill buddy and dont worry
about spying on your customers just build a better product even microsoft builds windows so that it can be constantly patched, they let hackers find all the security flaws first then tries to plug them.
even contacting them is a hassle finding a link ,that doesnt need to know what color underwear your wearing
but if your a monopoly i guess you dont go to jail you just collect the 200$
ty apple for keeping it simple
