I have a problem...
When I attempt to open a word document, I get a error message:
"Word failed reading from this file. Please restore the network connection or replace floppy disk and retry."
Does anyone know how I can fix this ?
It's a very important document.((

Follow these instructions:
1. Force Microsoft Word to repair your document. In the "File" menu choose the option "Open." A dialogue box will open where you can choose the name of your file. Click once on the file and then click on and hold down the "Open" button at the bottom-right hand of the screen. A drop down menu will display. Choose "Open and Repair" from the options.
2.Save the document as another file format and convert it back to a Word document (.DOC) file. First try saving the document as a "rich text format" (.RTF) or as a web file (.HTML). These file types will preserve formatting. After you save it as one of these types, close the file and reopen it in Word. Re-save the file as a .DOC file again. If one of these two file types do not work save it as another word processing format or a text only file (.TXT).
3.Insert the document into another Word document. Open a new document and from the "Insert" menu choose "File." Find the corrupt file and double-click on it to insert it. It may open the file, but you will loose any tracked changes and you may loose your Page Setup settings.
4.Use another application to open the corrupt file. You can try opening the file in another word processor such as word perfect, text pad, or Open Office (though this may cause you to loose your formatting and graphics). You can also try to open the file on the Pages program on a Mac, especially if it was originally created in this program.
5.Copy undamaged portions of text into a new document. This option is most useful if you are able to determine what is causing the corruption. For example, if you believe a certain graphic, chart or table is making the file corrupt you can copy everything else into a new document and re-save it. The new file should be undamaged, even though you loose some of your project.
Also you can download  the Word Fix Toolbox
Use the built-in Microsoft Office Diagnostics tool to identify and repair Office-related errors. The tool is usually installed as part of an Office 2007 software installation. One of the benefits of this tool is that it enables Office users to independently repair Office issues without the help of an expert.
Click on the “Microsoft Office Diagnostics” button to run this tool. A dialog box should open. Select the “Run Diagnostics” button. If you have used this tool in the past, you may instead see a “Run Diagnostics Again” button; be sure to click on this button. You will be redirected to another dialog box where you can select “Run Diagnostics” to begin troubleshooting Word 2007 errors.
Wait for the diagnostic tool to finish troubleshooting. Depending on the severity of the errors and the speed of your PC, this process could take 5 to 15 minutes.
Check periodically on the tool’s progress. If any issues are found, Microsoft Office Diagnostics will try to automatically repair the errors. However, note that repairing some errors may require that you reinsert your original Office CD to allow Windows to better assist you in resolving an issue. Similarly, in an attempt to repair some errors, Microsoft Office Diagnostics may refer you to Microsoft support online to find solutions for a specific problem.
Watch for a “No Cause Found” message. If the diagnostic tool returns this message, Microsoft Office Diagnostics was unable to resolve the issue. In this case, the errors you are experiencing most likely are related to the Windows operating system, not Office.
