I’m thankful

Independent tag

Would love the ability to programatically create an independent tag, a tag that doesn't need to be uploaded to the Microsoft tag website. Each of my users would have his/her own tag which would be saved on their WP7 device. My WP7 app would display the tag.

You can programmatically create Microsoft Tags using our Tag API , http://tag.microsoft.com/developer/in... however if you are creating only a few Tags it would be much easier to visit Tag Manager, http://tag.microsoft.com/ManageAds.aspx where you can create, render and save your Microsoft Tags in any of the common image formats, jpeg, gif, tiff, wmf, png, pdf. Using these image formats you can then create application logos, etc.
    • This is not what I meant. I'm already using the API, but it seems to me that MS tag is great if I need to create my own tags, but bad if I need to generate tags for others.
Like I said, I want to generate a tag that would generated by my WP7 app and hold personal info of whoever downloads my WP7 app. In such a case, I don't want the tags to appear in my account, nor do I care about the statistics of each tag. I just need the image to be saved and appear in the user's device, so when someone points his phone's camera at it, he could get my user's personal info.

Microsoft Tags are always associated with a Windows Live ID via Tag Manager, http://tag.microsoft.com/ManageAds.aspx .

A scenario could be your WP7 app running on Device 1 pointed at and displaying a web page URL Tag image. Device 2 can be waved across this Device 1 URL Tag Image. This URL Tag image would redirect the Device 2 browser to perform a web based action thereby achieving whatever result you are intending such as obtaining unique identification (Tag Device ID) or location information (Tag RTL).
    • Sorry, I don't think you're following.
I DON'T want the tag generated in my WP7 app to be saved under my account. The tag will contact my user's personal info and I'm not interested in saving my user's personal info under my account.
I want to enable my user to share his generated tag (but not with me... :-))
