  • I'm using MM 7.4.4 with Mountain Lion on a iMac with 12G Ram and i'm willing to help testing - since my preview sound is very poor. Like in lack of memory RAM.

Beside that MM seems to be running OK. But the playback is just too bad to mixwork with.

Otherwise please update any serious news on the subject.

  • Any updates on progress of the Beta testing?

Either Mac or PC at this point, as there's scant news or updates or NuMark employee interaction for a while and it's really quite disappointing.

Once Bitwig is on full release, I think MM is going to get binned.

  • Hi Simon - not sure how to give feedback on the beta test. My beta test went nowhere - loaded the program (fusion plus video) on a brand new windows 7 hp laptop. The program froze up when I added my library video and audio library. I continue to use an older version on my performance laptop as a vj three times a week with no problem - was hoping for mp4 support. So please let me know if this forum is hoe you wish to receive feedback.

  • Hi there, downloaded the mac express version (7.6, build 9)
The upgrade was ok, worked out well.
I'm no longer able to search for playlists when using file-open. No files appear, I'll have to search for the .mmp files in the OS and drag & drop or navigate myself to the correct place.
The export functions (the main reason for upgrade) still doesn't work. Only .aiff and .waw support is left, the others removed. None of them works though. The only thing happening is the playlist starts playing but the playing indicator indicates it doesn't play. Export to iTunes is as before, the name is messed up, the only way to find the file is to look into the latest added, rename, use info and put the info into the file manually. No way to split it into different files.
The print playlist option crashes the program like always - or more hangs. Everything you try to do just doesn't work anymore. It's not even possible to save the playlist.
The same thing happens frequently when using the program so before going anywhere near the menues, make sure the playlist is saved, otherways it (or the changes made) will be lost.
It's still not possible to drag & drop around songs in the playlist. Now even the "rightclick" options of cut, copy, paste is gone. It works with cmd-x, cmd-v and so on.
The only problem solved I can se is that it's now possible to drag a song from the library list to the correct place in the playlist, after upgrading my macOS to 10.8 that function was removed.

My guess is that some of the errors - export, print list and so on is due to bad implementation of the program in the MacOS enviroment, possibly related to access management.
So - to sum up: one out of dozens of bugs was corrected. A lot more were added. The program is now as unstable as the very early version of 7.0

  • Hello folks! I just started using MM Express 7.6 on my MacBook Air with 10.7.5, and it works alright. As the above two people said, you can export .aiff and .wav without a problem. Exporting to itunes works for me, but as said above, it doesn't save with the correct name, and for me, saves the file in m4a format, which I can then convert, only I find it easier to convert from .aiff.

I was thinking of purchasing MM fusion, but neither the demo, nor the beta would work in 10.7.5...just crashes.

Just a note...I had been looking for an easy way to export mixes to mixcloud, and so far, MM would be perfect, more so if you could export the playlist text...! Otherwise, I hope the company is still working on it...
    Best,
    John

  • Hi Harald, No, I haven't tried that...obviously a handy option though, so if it doesn't work, then that is another minus. I am surprised that no one from MM central seems to comment. From what sbangs seems to say in this thread earlier on, and from what I have gathered from other messages, numark has purchased MM. Who knows what is going on in their minds. If they were smart, they would take some sort of direction aimed at combining with an online service like mixcloud.

It does seem like there has been a lot of time in between updates here. Whether you decided to stick with this program would depend a lot on what exactly you needed to accomplish with it. While it isn't ideal, it does seem to work for my purposes of creating a mix with somewhat easy export of the one track result. There are plenty of multi-tracking programs that would work better, but would also take a lot more busy-work in the end. There has got to be one smart marketing person out there that could take this horse and run with it. Time will tell.
    • There is nothing much else that works like Mixmeister to create a (professional sounding) mix. The concept is great, it is just a shame that Numark does not see it that way. I'm a happy Studio 7 (Windows) for many years now; it does exactly what I need it to do and without any major flaws, but the program is becoming a bit outdated now.

But there is something much worse ... it is one thing that updates are scarce, the lack of support (in providing the install files for example) is what is pretty much intolerable. It is just not right to sell software (for a lot of money in case of Fusion+Video!!) and then NOT be able (willing?) to provide the installation files if a user requests them ...

Anyway, time will tell if Mixmeister will be updated (at least there are some beta's available now). Until then I hope that I can help out some users here.
