  • Hi Tim,

Not to worry, the process should be pretty easy. First things first, are you running Windows or Mac? Also, what version of MM are you running? If you're running on Windows, I can tell you exactly where things are located. If Mac, you will have to translate.

The first, and most important thing is to be sure to deactivate your license on the old computer using iLok. A deactivation must be done on the machine that the product was activated on, which presents a real problem if your machine just flat out dies or is stolen, but that's another story. Once you have deactivated your license then you are free to install MM on the new machine and reactivate the license.

Secondly, MixMeister stores information in two locations. The first location is in the program files installation directory. You won't have to make any modifications to this location. All user-centric data is stored in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\MixMeister Technology\MixMeister Engine Studio 7. Once you install MM you will find that this directory has been created for you. I suggest copying all of the files in this directory from your old computer to your new one. Then, to be safe, I would to into Tools > Options and make sure everything is set the same as before.

But wait...there's more! If you accepted the default installation options on your previous machine, MM has been creating *.mxm files next to each track. The location of these files is stored in an MS-Access database (*.mdb file) in the aforementioned location. When you overwrite these files you will also need to be sure that all of your music has been copied into the the EXACT same directory structure on the new machine, letter for letter. You will also need to be sure that the library tab in Tools > Options reflects the same mappings as the previous installation.

That should do it. Please let me know how things go.

    Also...

Copying just the music files to the new machine (without regard to location), then remapping the library and rescanning the files is problematic due to the playlist files (*.mmp) needing to be synchronized with the location of the *.mxm files.

    Best regards
