Mixmeisters ....

I can definite say I am a mixmeister after attempting to dj the traditional way with serato..... There's something about this application that We Mixmeisters find pleasure and joy in using...

Me personally I find the harmonics, beat-matching and preparing the next iterations of songs unmatched by the other applications... Let's hope that MixMeister tech support kicks into gear and offer support to making Mix meister competitive ...

Has anyone midi mapped the MixTrack pro3 to the mixmeiter app?

I agree completely...well done! I think you've identified some very important reasons that validate not only why we persist, but that also cast a light on the tremendous value of the product when measured in terms of ease of use, time saved, feature/cost ratio, and overall experience. In balance, the technical issues have not negated the greater value received...by a long shot (for me anyway). :-)

I am asking Uncle Google about your question. I'll post back shortly.

  • I have some information. DJ Henri has gone down this road already in an attempt to create MIDI mappings between a Stealth Controller and Fusion. From what I have determined, after scouring every knowledge base and forum I could find, is that this remains uncharted territory where the MixTrack controller is concerned. Henri has covered a lot of ground, so you may want to search for his profile and touch base with him directly.

DJ Henri mapped Fusion to the Numark Stealth Controller. His results can be viewed here. Be sure to scroll down to Revision 4 and expand the spoiler. I have copied the pertinent info from his thread below. His findings should get you pretty far, but he inferred that he experienced trouble trying to reconcile what "should happen" with what "actually happened". Please refer to the link above for additional details. Hopefully mapping the MixTrack Pro controls to the list below shouldn't be too difficult. (e.g., Stealth uses the word "Track" whereas MixTrack uses "Browser". Henri had abandoned the learn mode process with his MixTrack because Fusion simply wouldn't communicate properly with the controller, but I am hoping that his later discoveries resolved his initial issues. The notes below the mapping should tell you more.

Well, I generally believe that luck has absolutely no bearing on one's future, but from what little I've experienced today...Good Luck!

    ****************************
All of the following information comes from DJ Henri's thread at mixingonbeat.com. I have left all references to Stealth intact.
    ****************************

    1. TRACK – You can use the TRACK knob to scroll through tracks in the current category of your Library. Press down on the TRACK knob to load the selected track into Playlist.

    3. LOAD – Stops looping.

    4. CUE – The LEFT CUE button is your MIX NOW command in PERFORM. The right CUE button advances the upcoming track’s Intro to your selected PREVIEW point, and begins the mix in PREVIEW.

    5. SET CUE – The LEFT SET CUE button moves your PERFORMANCE to the end of the current track and stops the PERFORMANCE. The RIGHT SET CUE button stops your Preview.

    6. PLAY / PAUSE – Press to begin playing or to pause the track. The LEFT button operates PERFORMANCE, the RIGHT button operates PREVIEW; however, you must start your PREVIEW in Fusion. Stealth will not preview a track selected in the Library; it only resumes a PREVIEW started in Fusion.

    7. JOG WHEEL – The LEFT JOG WHEEL moves the timeline left and right. The RIGHT JOG WHEEL will scratch the PREVIEW.

    9. CROSSFADER – Zooms in and out on timeline.

10., 11., 15., 21., 22., 23. – The left side for these controls strip 1 and the right side controls strip 2. Keep no more than one track on each strip, including short overlays. If you need to add something and a played track remains in your Playlist, delete it, or select and delete the unnecessary portion from the end of the track in your timeline.

    10. GAIN – Adjusts the gain level, disabling any transitions. In Options/Playlist/Transitions, it’s best to use No Transition, Simple Full, or Beatmix Full Transitions. With all other Transitions, you must instantly up your Gain to the desired volume to avoid sudden drops in volume.

    11. EQ – Use these knobs to adjust the levels of the Treble, Mid, and Bass frequencies.

10., 11. For upcoming tracks in your Playlist, these knobs only start working three measures before the track begins.

    12. MASTER – Controls the Master level, allowing you to change the overall volume of the mix.

    14. PH VOL – This knob adjusts the headphone PREVIEW mix level.

    15. PFL – Press the PFL button to turn headphone PREVIEW on and off.

    21. PITCH BEND -/+ – The “-“ button sets a 1-beat loop; the “+” button set a 2-beat loop.

    22. LOOP IN – Sets a 4-beat loop.

    23. LOOP OUT – Sets an 8-beat loop.

Only loop on strip currently PERFORMING, making sure it’s after one set of the beats you want to loop. Do not touch the side controlling track that is not PERFORMING; it will set loops in the empty part of the strip and delay start of the next track in the playlist.

You can only have one track in your timeline to use Fusion’s overlay buttons. You can click the same overlay button and it will play again. If you want to use a second overlay button, you must delete the already-played first overlay from your Playlist.

Your first track of any Playlist must be a Primary track. If you start with an overlay, your Playlist will disappear when you start your mix.

Fully connect your Stealth to your laptop and power source before booting your laptop.

AC power adapter is not included. If you do not buy one, you may need to navigate to Control Panel/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controller/Generic USB Hub/Power Management, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

You must establish a handshake between Fusion and Stealth. In Options/MIDI, change Control Template to Custom, learn one command from the command list to a Stealth button, and click OK. If the Control Template has reverted to Omni/Stealth, reset to Custom and try again. Only if it remains in Custom after you have learned the command to a button can you then change the drop-down to Omni/Stealth, and the handshake will begin working.

  • One other thing. I contacted Numark support and filed a support ticket. Hopefully, they respond favorably.

  • SHSM... Awesome Find/discover... and thanks for directing me to the midi mapping.

You know that error loading folders into the application... well I loaded all three of my previously purchased MM application.... Fusion, Fusion (controller dependent), and Fusion +Video.... all three I was able to load nearly 1000 songs without any crashes... Makes one wonder what did they actually do... Hoping they visit and reverse engineer too solve that file folder load....

But thanks again for the midi mapping... I will be a tinkering....

  • I have an update. I can create your midi map and send you an updated miditemplates.xml file when I'm finished. This way you won't have to do any tinkering whatsoever.

I'm very comfortable with XML and coding in general.

  • One more update for the day. I have located a reliable MixTrack Pro 3 midi map, as well as a tool that I can use to merge the controller midi output to the Fusion midi input. I will continue with this tomorrow, with to goal of delivering a single file that you can test that will connect your controller to Fusion. I'm not certain if my midi mapping software will function correctly without the physical controller, so I have also located a midi emulator...just in case.

    I'll keep you posted.

  • Status Update:

I am attempting to verify a best practice for this implementation so that it can be duplicated for other controllers. You can view the conversation here.
