Problems adjusting tempo

I have the Mixmeister Express, and when I adjust the bpm (via "edit tag") for certain tracks the tempo within the track accelerates and decelerates significantly. Is there any way to work around this? Or a way to adjust the bpm so that the tempo remains consistent throughout the song?

  • are you editing the bpm in the tag whilst the track is playing or cued? As that seems to dump a bpm tag into the timeline with the new bpm, which might account for the change in bpm (as it moves from the previous track's bpm or bpm tag to the new bpm of the track back to the next tag or track).

try editing the bpm in the tag from selecting the track in your library browser rather than the playlist or timeline and see if the same thing happens.

  • I am having the same problem as Ryan with some tracks in Studio 7. I tried adjusting BPM in library and/or playlist and that has no effect. During playback, visualizer shows steady tempo state, i.e., 130 BPM, but the output accelerates and decelerates SIGNIFICANTLY. Any other ideas?

  • Something I noticed recently (with some old disco tracks) is that the beat grid is 'off' but not consistently so, causing the track to speed up and slow down as you've described.

It might be an idea to either remove any changes to the beatgrid you've made or have a look through the beat grid for areas where the track tempo itself might change, throwing out the beatgrid, or where the beatgrid itself is borked (you might notice this as the grid sections won't be a consistent 'width' or the kicks will shift out of sync with the grid).
