Songs skip during the mix, throwing tracks off beat

During a mix, 1 or both of the songs skip, throwing the tracks off beat. Any ideas as why this is happening?

  • Which version of mixmeister?

Fact is, mixmeister bpm detection (not only mixmeister tho) can not detect the bpm properly of some tracks. And this leads always to faults in a mix, but mixmeister allow to fiddle with the bpm.

Click on the problem wav, then left bewol, song slicer and you can see the control points that mixmeister uses. There you can adjust the bpm by moving markeres or ad markers . At least: within studio 7, not sure about other mixmeister versions.

  • I am using studio now, however when i used the trial version of express, i never had this problem. I also am having trouble moving the intro and outro curser to the exact location i want.

Intro and outro start lines can easy be moved.
Just drag them and mixmeister should follow the beats nice.
Test mixmeister first with commercial tracks with a heavy beat.

You can define in the options how many beats are overlapped by two songs.
An if a song is not played in sync, at the bottom, click on the slicing icon and adjust the beat by moving existing beat markers or add new beat markers.

Be sure to not use overlay mode for a song unless you know what you are doing.
Overlays can slice off beat. So sick with the default beat mix and drag the start and ends to the desired position if needed. Mixmieister up to 5 used two beat markers, version 7 uses on mix marker. Mixmeister 7 changes smoothly the bpm from begin to end.

  • Correct, you need to slice. If your MP3 has a "skip" I would suggest you get a decent MP3, it will be far easier to mix if it is correct.

Intro & Outro by default "snaps to beat" - you can turn this off momentarily by using alt+B - don't forget to turn it on again later !!
