studio 7.4.4 stopped launching on my MAC

i have been using studio 7.4 on my macbook pro for many months with no problems. Suddenly it wont launch, eventually the top menu bar launches but not the body of the program and the menu bar is frozen and overlays any other app I have open. I tried to open a ticket with Mixmeister tech support but when I filled it out I got a message saying there was a front page error and my message couldnt be sent >:(
i thought of uninstalling and reinstalling but i cant find a thread telling me how to uninstall studio. Id hate to lose my 123 mixed playlists many of which go back 6-7 years and a number of Mixmeister products... :(

  • I’m Frustrated
I've had this problem as of this morning. Even uninstalling did nothing to help.

  • You need to remove the settings file for MixMeister, that helps. The problem is caused by a bug in the software (one of many) that when you enable the keycode-column on the playlist, the application will crash and never start again before you remove the settings-file(s). They are not stored with the main program, so reinstalling will - unfortunately - not remove them.

I'm sorry, but at the moment I can not find where those files are located. They are *.plist -files (but every application uses those, so don't go about removing them all - that will make your system behave in a unpredictable manner;)

  • I’m happy
I found a fix! I downloaded this program called AppCleaner and removed MixMeister from my Launchpad with it, then reinstalled and it now works again!

The program is here if you want to try it. So pleased!

I know this thread is old but I found the solution based on Markku's comment previously, and this is relevant for all versions of Studio 7.

Enabling Key Code in the playlist broke the app for me and it no longer displayed the main window. Your case might be different but if you enabled a column to display in either the playlist or library window and it crashed the app, then stopped the app from loading properly if you try to relaunch, then quick fix is:

    Open FInder and go to:

    \Library\Preferences

You need to open the following file in either XCode or maybe even TextEdit

    com.mixmeister.MixMeisterFusion.plist

(Mine is Fusion, yours might be Express or Studio)

The key that was causing trouble for me was Key Code in the Playlist, and if you set the Column Order to "-1" it tells the app not to display it. In text XML that looks like :

    PlaylistKeyCodeColumnOrder
    -1

Save, and it should relaunch OK now. If it doesn't, you may need to delete this file and let MixMeister recompile a default one.
    • Where do I enter this? Just put the whole line at the beginning?

In text edit mine looks like this
      - bplist00‘_Output Configuration_Profile Cache Directory_Snap Position Type^_EnableLoggingO ̧âFF_a/Users/apple/Library/Application Support/MixMeister Technology/MixMeister Engine Studio 7/Archive(BWfe...À Ã
