Using Mixmeister Live

Does anyone know how to set up Mixmeister with the Numark Mixmeister control for a live performance? How do you isolate the headphones, so you can set up the tracks ahead, from the output speakers (and what kind of speakers), and how does it all connect to the computer? Did email them directly but unsurprisingly no response.

  • Uh, yep what Simon said. But if you bought a controller thinking you're getting a level of control like say a Serato or Traktor device would give you (and/or the Mixmeister control has it's own sound card) then you're in for disappointment.

Not to say the Mixmeister control isn't useful for playing out live, it's what I use.

Your PC/laptop/mac needs to have two sound cards, one for previewing the track/mix and one for the actual performance. (OR a soundcard with dual outputs like the Traktor Audio 2) This is setup in Tools - Audio Output Configuration. Where you set the preview and main out sound cards. The sound card that you set for the Main out goes to your mixer/amp chain and is what the clients hear, and naturally your Preview output goes to your headphones (or can go to another mixer channel which is set to cue)

Your Mixmeister control is setup under Tools - Options - Midi and it should appear in the Hardware Control dropdown at the top. Once set you can control pretty much everything that you need to in the mix.

    Hope that helps

  • Hi Glen

Thank you for replying. I did read through the manual but thanks for the added info. Still not quite sure how to set it up but I'll give it go.
