For those who want to try out Mouse Without Borders running in Windows Phone, please follow these steps:

  • Install the latest version of the app in your computer - http://getsatisfaction.com/mouse_with...

  • Enable connection from Windows Phone by selecting the option in the Mouse Without Borders system tray menu item

  • Install the app to your phone from marketplace or from the web

  • Now you can run the app in your phone to connect to the computer, your phone will work like a wireless mouse touchpad/keyboard

Note: Wi-Fi connection must be turned on in the phone. The phone and the machine must be connected to the same network.

I have installed the latest version on my PC and installed on my WP7, however the instructions say to "Enable connection from Windows Phone by selecting the option in the Mouse Without Borders system tray menu item." I don't see a windows phone option from the tool tray icon. Any suggestions? I have 2.1.1.1010 installed.

You need to install version 2.1.2.0111 or later - http://getsatisfaction.com/mouse_with...

Thanks,

Would this also be possible on the iOS or Android?

We have no plan on this but we can provide the package format and protocol so any developer can develop an app running on other OSes as well.

Have you enabled the connection as mentioned above? Whant error message do you have in the phone? Note that if your computer joins a company network, a TCP connection would be blocked due to network policy.

A similar version for Windows 8 Tablet/Surface is now available in the Windows Store - http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/en-U...

Remember to install the latest Desktop version - https://getsatisfaction.com/mouse_wit... and enable the connection as mentioned above!

Known issue with the Desktop version 2.1.2.1024: During the first 5 minutes after starting Mouse Without Borders in a Desktop machine, your Windows Phone/Tablet/Surface might get disconnected for every minute. But after that things works fine. So keep your Desktop version running!:)

this is very neat. im typing this frim my phone in fact. however a couple of crucial issues...
1. no multitouch, so i cant drag with it. i.e. move mouse with button held down.
2. a few characters e.g. apostrophe and paremthesis, and capital lettrers dont work.
otherwise excellent.
this is on a nokia 920 by the way

p.s. a powerpoint mode would be neat.

Great thing. I remarked that the WP app keyboard seems to be QWERTY (regardless of the actual settings on the phone), and non-latin letters are not supported. Is this correct, and will it remain as it is? If so, which keyboard do you recommend to use on the phone?

Why can't it support multi-computers (like a normal mouse could)

This is so great, but I do wish I could use my desktop (with MWB) to control the Windows Phone.

There are times when I want to send a text or use some other Windows Phone app, and doing so from my desktop keyboard and mouse would be much easier.
