How do I stop Thunderbird from opening two or more copies on starting.

I have Thunderbird configured to start when Windows XP starts. Commonly two copies are opened - sometimes three. Even if I then exit Thunderbird and re-start the programme by clicking on the desktop icon the multiple copies re-appear.

I have now discovered that the problem is caused by the "MinimizeToTray Revived" add-on. Disabling that has solved it.

  • I don't have Thunderbird configured to start when XP starts and I still have this problem that duplicate copies of TB 17 start when I click on the program icons I have in my SYSTRAY, START menu, and desktop.

The advice to open Help | Troubleshooting information | Show Folder and then delete sessions.json used to work but this morning it doesn't. However, maybe this is because at the moment TB is not openning two copies of the program when I click on one of the program icons. I find that the problem can be started by double-clicking on the TB program icon instead of single-clicking on it, as I forgetfully sometimes do. Double-clicking on the program icon sometimes starts one of the spells of two copies of the program opening until I can delete the sessions.json file.

But this is not my problem now. There is no copy of sessions.json in my Profile and I am still getting the double copy problem.

It sure would be nice for TB to fix this problem.
