I tried to rearrange my local folders. I did something wrong and now when I open a message
I cannot type in any text nor does text in received message appear in text box.
I think I need to properly rearrange local folders 'account settings'

EMPLOYEEI’m hopeful my suggestions help and if not we can solve this once full troubleshooting details are provided0Hi ivyfrances:
Thank you for posting this problem - as Thunderbird is free open source software we have a number of volunteers who try to help people resolve issues with the Thunderbird software product here on Get Satisfaction; i.e. most Thunderbird support is done by volunteers not by employees so there is no response time guarantee, email, fax or telephone support. We have over 5 million users and therefore many more support requests than community support contributors.
In order to provide the best possible comments or advice and to save time, the community will need more troubleshooting details (in particular exact error messages if any, your exact Thunderbird settings for sending and receiving email - screenshots preferred; your OS, Thunderbird version and the other details in the README mentioned below). But, I also wanted to suggest these links as we frequently find that problems relate to these issues:
1. Sometimes Thunderbird gets "confused" by HTML formatting in emails and this causes you not to be able to type in a reply.
To fix this:
View -> Message Body As -> and select Simple HTML.
and then reply or compose your new email by clicking "Write"
Don't forget to reset back to Original HTML as follows:
View -> Message Body As -> and select Original HTML.
2. Periodically Thunderbird folders need to be compacted or your messages will not be displayed properly.
To compact a folder (assuming you are in Windows):
a) right click on the folder with the messages whose text isn't appearing -> and select Compact
3. And sometimes Thunderbird's index file gets corrupted and you therefore re-indexing your folder might work
b) right click on the folder with the messages whose text isn't appearing -> and select Properties... and then click on "General Information" and then click "Repair Folder"
If the above doesn't help, the community needs more detailed troubleshooting information to help you
Please reply with complete details as requested in our README: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/... i.e. firewall and anti-virus software versions if any, Thunderbird version (3.1.6?), Operating System (Windows XP?), ISP, mail service provider, POP or IMAP settings including username suitably altered to protect your privacy i.e change email@example.com to firstname.lastname@example.org (or grey out your userid & other confidential info which you can do with most Mac/Windows/Screendump utiities these days e.g. skitch on the mac, fastone capture on windows, http://www.faststone.org/index.htm, snagit, http://www.techsmith.com/snagit/, etc) , outgoing SMTP mail server setting including username altered so we can't guess your username, what add-ons you have installed if any, exact error message, what you did, what you expected, what happened, etc.
Further to my thunderbird problems, some recent changes have occurred without my having done anything. I can now type in messages but when I reply or forward messages text and pictures don't always show up in the new message.
I overcame that by clicking on "edit message as new"
and sent it on from there.
Today my computer went blank for a minute in the middle of downloading new messages and when it came back on I
found that over 900 email messages disappeared from my 'inbox' and I don't see them in any other box. In looking at properties it seems different than it was before, but not sure.
This is what it there now:
mailbox:///C:/Documents and Settings/Joyce's.MEDIA/Application Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/6f4fatxz.default/Mail/Local Folders/Inbox
Should the above line in properties be changed? Joyce
