"Delete Mail Marked As Junk In Folder"
(Tools -> "Delete Mail Marked As Junk In Folder")
Having two issues:
1. Sometimes the option to delete mail marked as junk is not click-able (light gray, not black).
2. When it *is* click-able (black), clicking on the phrase does not actually delete the mail in my junk folder.
I've looked at junk mail settings in both Tools -> Options -> Security -> Junk tab, and in Tools -> Account Settings -> Junk Settings, but have not found anything in either place that I could check or un-check that would help me resolve this issue.

CHAMP0I think that "Delete Mail Marked As Junk In Folder" is there to simply remove what has been identified as Junk from a "regular" folder. TB's spam filter will label items it thinks are junk. It would appear that that's all it does in your case; it is possible to set it up to remove the junk automatically. Since no junk filter is perfect, you might not want it to delete alleged junk until you have inspected it yourself - hence the default action for the junk filter is to move alleged junk into a folder where it can be checked over.
I think if you right click on the Junk folder itself, you will see a more helpful "Empty Junk" option.
You might want to check over your various accounts and see if they are all set the same. For each account you can set what the junk filter does and where to put the alleged junk. I use a junk folder under Local Files so all the alleged junk ends up in one place and I don't need to hunt around to find it all. If you use smart/unified folders this shouldn't be necessary, as unified folders will show a composite folder containg all of the junk folders' contents.
It looks like the "Delete Mail Marked As Junk In Folder" does not work with unified folders. It also looks like there is a bug if you allow folder compression in background, the delete operations are not working (and oftentimes you need to restart Thunderbird so that it gets its locks right again).
