People have been asking this for months and the problem STILL has not been addressed.
How can Thunderbird 3 be made to STOP asking for Master Password each time the application starts? To spell it out, I DO NOT want to delete the Master Password; I want Thunderbird 3 ONLY to request the Master Password when it is asked to show the stored account passwords in plain text. In other words, just like TB 2.
Several others have asked the very same question. Deleting the Master Password is not a work-around to this problem.
Help, someone, please! Otherwise it's a reluctant reinstall of Thunderbird 2.

I'm running version 3.1.6 and when I start TB, I get prompted 5 times for the master password. Being prompted for the master password more than once is redundant and anoying... Removing the master password is not an option, since I do not want any un-authorized access to any of my e-mail acconts. This behaviour is seriously crippling this application and hope will be fixed very soon.
