While Thunderbird 3.1 looks great I have to stay with Thunderbird 2.0 as Thunderbird 3.1 can't get my mail. It starts 'looking for folders...' and then starts downloading messages but runs forever (i had to stop it after running about one hour) I had a similar problem with Thunderbird 3.0. In Thunderbird 3.0 for example the message 'downloading message 37/33...' appeared after 1hour of downloading and shows that there must be a bug there. At the same time unified folders Inbox contains messages from only two of my three email accounts. My operating system is Windows XP3. My mail provider is 'Fastmail'.I would appreciate any help.

Finally the problem was solved at Thunderbird version 3.1.6. This version was not running for ever when getting mail, instead it was terminating with connection time out. When i changed my account settings from -Server Settings/Security Settings/Connection Security from 'none' to 'SSL/TLS' i could get my mail with no problem. My avast antivirus program protested and said that it could not check mail for viruses with SSL/TLS setting on, but i could see no other option. As i have mentioned earlier, my mail provider is fastmail, my antivirus program is Avast and my firewall is Outpost 7.0. Thunderbird 3.1 is great and i am very happy with it.
