I’m ANGRY - MOZZILLA NOT RESPONDING.

Thunderbird 3 - emails in inbox disappear.

I've looked to find an answer but there are no posts that give an answer to what is a fundamental problem - emails disappear from the Inbox folder on Thunderbird 3.
I have never had this problem before (NEVER) but I do now after downloading Thunderbird 3.

yup same issue as well, google and these support groups are full of people saying the use the search function.

best solution i have found so far is to simply uninstall the software and use something else.
    • Hi hbot, I have since found that If I transfer emails in the Thunderbird Inbox folder into their own respective folders I don't have a problem. I have also found that if I download emails using Outlook Express, having already downloaded the same emails using Thunderbird, that those in the Thunderbird Inbox immediately disappear. Provided I don't download any emails using Outlook Express all the emails in the Thunderbird Inbox remain where they are. Baffling!

    Hi Bruce

Thank you for posting this problem - we have a number of volunteers who try to help people resolve these issues here at Get Satisfaction. Sorry that the volunteers weren't able to respond to your particular problem.

In order to provide the best possible comments or advice and to save time, the community will need more troubleshooting details (in particular exact error messages if any, your exact Thunderbird settings for sending and receiving email - screenshots preferred; your OS and the other details in the README mentioned below). But, I also wanted to suggest the followin as we frequently find that problems relate to these issues:

    1. perhaps your firewall or anti-virus is interfering, try turning them off briefly

If the above doesn't help, the community needs more detailed troubleshooting information to help you

Please reply with complete details as requested in our README: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/... i.e. firewall and anti-virus software versions if any, Thunderbird version (3.0.6?, 2.0.0.24? 3.1.1? did you upgrade from 2.x to 3.1.1? or 2.x to 3.0.6? ), Operating System (Windows XP?), ISP, mail service provider, POP or IMAP settings including username suitably altered to protect your privacy i.e change jane@domain.com to jne@domain.com, outgoing SMTP mail server setting including username altered so we can't guess your username, what add-ons you have installed if any, exact error message, what you did, what you expected, what happened, etc.

  • I was going through a lot of e-mails and deleting them as they had been dealt with, then all of a sudden all the remaining e-mails disappeared. I have only had this problem once. I do, however, have a problem with a message going to junk, I mark it not junk, it goes into the inbox and when I click on that it is gone.
