Since last night, Thunderbird 10.02 fails to send email through Yahoo. It responds with:-
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Transaction failed : Cannot send message due to possible abuse; please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/abuse_smt... for more information. Please check the message and try again.
Other email clients work properly. Thunderbird works well with other email servers, but not with the yahoo based accounts. It seems that many people are having issues with this today. Yahoo is handling Thunderbird mail differently since Friday night, 9th March, 2012.
Yahoo is slow to respond at the best of times.

Nope. It's not that the account is being restricted in any way. It's a false message that only occurs with Thunderbird and is happening with a LOT of people since last night. Incredimail and other email clients are able to send mail properly using the same Yahoo account. Thinderbird works perfectly with non-Yahoo accounts. It only happens with the Thunderbird/Yahoo combination.
I'm an IT guy and used to testing/debugging problems. I had already looked at that post, but it doesn't apply here. If it was a usage issue, the other email clients would now see the same problem. There are no restrictions on the account. I would suspect that there is a subtle difference with the communications protocol from Thunderbird and that Yahoo has made a change in the last 24 hours that is triggering this issue with Thunderbird. I have advised Yahoo. Maybe someone on the Thunderbird side has some clout with Yahoo and can find a resolution to this issue.
A Google search for the last 24 hours shows this is not an isolated case.
