I’m frustrated

Thunderbird won't start - says it's already running

Using Thunderbird on Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3. Install info:

Install Dir: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird
Locale : sv-SE
App Version: 2.0.0.23
GRE Version: 1.8.1.23

When I try to start Thunderbird after a reboot (even in safemode) I get a message saying that Thunderbird is already running. I tried installing Thunderbird on a different machine and moving my profile from the other machine. Same problem. But, if I use the new empty profile it will start. Leads me to believe there is a flag in the profile somewhere.

Tried removing the parent.lock file to no avail and no thunderbird.exe process is running.

Any ideas on how to resolve?
