unread email in Archives folder

When I get an email, not only does it display in the 'Unified Folder' but also in the 'Archives' folder for that account. No problem so far. But after I read the email in the Unified Folder, the email remains unread in the Archives folder until I click on the appropriate account's archive folder, whereupon it (most of the time) reverts to no longer bold read status. The other times I have to go into the Archives folder and find the email and click on it, to get it to act as read.

Any ideas how to fix this?
