How unlimited is "unlimited"?

I checked the Ts & Cs when I signed up and didn't see any ISP style "fair use policies" or "you are limited to xxx GB even though we market this as unlimited" type terms so how much does anyone else have backed up with Mozy - specifically MozyHome?

I'm nearing 300 GB (plus all my revisions etc) and for $5 a month feel like I'm robbing them :)

@Mozy on Twitter told me that unlimited = unlimited
and.. even better...
"We store an unlimited # of versions for the past 30 days."
So if you modify a lot of files, you can back them up without to worry you will miss something.

That's good to know, thanks. I wonder what the most anyone has stored is :)

The way Mozy controls unlimited backup is by limiting your upload speeds. It used to be 1Mb/s but now it is 3Mb/s. That makes unlimited backup useless for anyone who has GB's of data to backup. Even more frustrating is that many people like myself are getting faster ISP connections, I have a 10Mb/s upload line I can not maximize for Mozy backups - Backblaze doesn't have this limitation.

That's not true, we don't cap your upload speed. Why do you promote Backblaze in all your posts, do you work for them or something?

No, I don't work for Backblaze. I want Mozy to realize that they need to improve their service as the competitors have caught up and surpassed you.

Let's say I had 100 files that are each 30GB in size. Would I be able to backup using Mozy? If my upload or download is interrupted, can I resume without starting from scratch?

tummblr. You will need to have a very good upload speed so it's not painful getting those files up, but it can be done. As far as the resume goes, you may want to look at this post: http://community.mozy.com/t5/Mozy-for...
