On 12/08/14, I took advantage of the Christmastime deals on MCR beta to get a $25 Home Depot gift card. Unfortunately, the gift card never arrived. When I contacted MCR about the incident, they apologized and put the points back into my account.
Unfortunately, knowing that there are good points deal before Christmas, I
had saved my points specifically for that card. There is not even an option to get a Home Depot gift card on MCR right now. And the points added back to my account do not come close to the regular value of the gift card. For example, a $10 gift card to Walmart is approximately the same number of points right now (if I had "gold" status).
I am very disappointed in MCR on this occasion. I have been a loyal Coke customer for year, partially based on the MCR program, but the point values continue to decline each year. And not getting a reward that I spent all year saving for may be the last straw, especially given that I used social media to promote MCR in order to even be eligible for the $25 Home Depot gift card. Basing a program on social media engagement is great, but that same social media can be used to express frustration with the program as well.
If there is any way to receive the $25 Home Depot gift card, that would be the best case scenario. If not, I believe that offering some sort of compensation above and beyond simply refunding points is in order, given that the option to get another Home Depot gift card will likely not present itself again until December (if at all).
