I opened 12 pack and removed code myself, why am I receiving message that was already entered?

I entered the following code OFJT6HH7OLWTNN to get double points for Cinco de Mayo and received message that this code had already been entered? I don't understand how it could have been since I opened the 12 pack of diet coke myself an hour ago and put it in my purse until just now when I sat to enter it? could you please investigate this?

I have ran into that problem myself, thought I was getting senile and forgetting that I had already entered code, but no that wasn't the prob.
