These Headphones Are NOT What They Were Made Out To Be!!

I have redeemed my points and received my pair of red PC ready headphones. First of all, I thought I was getting a set of regular headphones for my telephone. Not so much the case. Second of all, the second that i got them they have not been working to my liking. I can hardly hear my music, I cant hear anything that's going on while they are hooked up to my computer. I know that the sound card is working, because when I unplug them, I can hear the music louder then when I have them in. I would like some answers please. Thank you.
