Gift Inventory Wiped Out with Last Web Update

Hello Team,
I've closed my Restaurant Town game & restarted my iPhone. In doing so the game was updated automatically. I had already noticed the update prior to restarting because the new Spring items were in the shop under a new tab, even though a glitch causes the pictures to be linked to the old St. Patrick's day items that were previously available.

It appears that in addition to the new seasonal items the update has cleared out all of the gifts in inventory causing me to have to start collecting them all over again starting from zero. I don't understand why this change would have been made as no one has expressed an issue with the gifting process since the last gifting update to resolve the major bugs. I'd painstakingly grown quite a healthy inventory of tools so that I could build items needed for quests without relying so heavily on getting gifts from friends within the tight 24hr timeframe. Why has this change happened with the gifting & how is it an improvement on the process that was already in place? I look forward to hearing back from you with a quality explanation as soon as possible.

Thank you.

  • Hello S. Smith,

This is something that should not have happened. Could you please answer a couple of questions for us:
1.) When was the last time you updated your game (we're talking about major updates here, specifically the 2.3 update)?
2.) Do the Spring items still use the St. Patricks pictures?
3.) Were all of your gifts reset to 0? Any exceptions?
4.) When did the St. Patricks items become available for you (an estimate will suffice, no need for an exact date)?
5.) When you say that the new items' pictures were linked to the St. Patricks items, do you mean that the items are called correctly (Spring Garden, Easter Table, Happy Easter and Easter Bunny) but the pictures displayed were St. Patricks ones?

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

  • Hi Boris,
The game was last updated on 03/31/14. The Spring items had the correct name but displayed only half or a portion of the St. Patty's item like the Pot of Gold, Lucky Clover & 1 of them displayed a portion of the Gift Display Rack. They're all correct now even though they're listed twice. Once under the Featured Item tab then again under the Misc. Tab. I didn't pay much attention & can't say for certain when I 1st noticed the St. Patty's items because they were all ridiculously priced & only available for purchase with gems. I believe it was some time around the week of the holiday. Every one of my gift inventory items was reset to zero without exception.

When I 1st opened the game a message box popped up stating all existing players were being awarded 20,000 coins. Then the 2 quest icons I'd previously been working on for the Chef & the Kid had arrows stating they were completed. However, when I clicked on the icons it showed my actual progress for the dishes I'd been cooking. Then the instruction boxes kept popping up as if I'd just started the game. They explained the Tips Dial & how to collect gifts. Once I clicked on gifts on the floor the box would pop up congratulating me on finding the item. I opened the Social Tab & it took a moment to load my Friends, Guestbook & Inbox. My inbox messages & activity had all been cleared & Friends awaiting approval were all gone. I had about 15 awaiting approval. The game basically performed like it had been reset to start from the very beginning but thankfully I was still on the correct level & my coins & gem totals were still there. Is there any way for me to get my gift inventory back? I'd purchased a number of items to build based on the inventory I had. Now Im stuck with these items & trying to request almost every tool needed from Friends. It'd take forever just to get 4 Chef Jackets & 9 Chef Hats for 1 item alone, when I previously had about 70-80 of them. This is quite upsetting because it seems like there's always something going on with this game & I've devoted a lot of time playing it. No one seems to understand how long it takes to build up a successful restaurant & earn enough coins & gems to make things look appealing. Then there's rarely any compensation for the errors & stress they cause other than a 1 sentence generic apology. (NanobitID-TheHoss)

  • Not only has it started my gift inventory over from zero but it has also placed a very low limit on tools. There's currently a limit of 5 on Thermometers. So I've already started getting the message that the limit has been reached & I cannot collect anymore thermometers. It'd be nearly impossible to finish building items with limits that low on the gifts in my inventory. Please research this issue & fix it ASAP. Thanks. (NanobitID-TheHoss)

  • S. Smith, we're already looking into the issue and we'll get back to you as soon as we know something more.

    Regarding the gift limit:
The limit was in the game since gifts were introduced. Keep in mind that different gifts have different limits.

Could you please send us a screenshot of one of your gift inventory pages?
    • Boris,
Please don't take this the wrong way because I mean this as sincerely as possible but it's absolutely asinine for you to insinuate that the limit on a particular tool has gone from 70-80 back down to 5 (FIVE). It's absurd for you to have read any of my previous correspondence & get the idea that I'm so much of a novice player of the Restaurant Town game that I wouldn't know how the gifting has worked for almost 2 months now. I certainly don't claim to know everything about the Restaurant Town game which is why I find this forum & the support email to be invaluable tools to answer all of the questions that come about. However, I keep abreast of the changes & educate myself on the ins & outs of the game on a regular basis. So while there may be some changes that I may not notice for 1-2 days, I assure you there are no changes that I have completely disregarded. Which is why I asked if the Web Update that took place around 04/14/14 was supposed to make such a change to the gift inventory. You have now confirmed that this change in fact was not supposed to happen.

Therefore, I invite you to research & investigate the issue so that you can respond with a more concise & knowledgable explanation. There's absolutely no way such a large change to gifting, now one of the biggest facets of the game, is going to take place without changing any of the other parameters of the game such as the number of tools needed to build an item. So please don't attempt to white wash this issue or pawn it off to the back burner as a user error when it is grossly evident that something has indeed gone wrong. I have provided the answers to your previous questions & provided screenshots as you've requested. I'm doing my best to help you help me & any other Restaurant Town player. I believe it'd only be fair for you to provide me with a legitimate answer & also provide some sort of compensation for my time, assistance & loyalty to this game while it has so many glitches that need to be worked out on a regular basis.
      Sincerely,
      NanobitID-TheHoss

  • Well Boris,
You certainly did a bang up job of wasting my time & giving me the run around before finally pawning the problem on to someone else. Now I'll have to go through the trouble of explaining the issues yet again to a totally different person. I hope you get paid hourly instead of per issue resolved. Your lame & lack luster apologies have lost all merit when you repeat it 100s of times over for months on end. However, I do appreciate you acknowledging the error so at least other gamers will know they too have been sabotaged by yet another botched update if the same issue happens to them unless you quickly hide it away in the archives like you all do to so many other UNRESOLVED problems. Good day! Please stop sabotaging my game. (NanobitID-TheHoss)
