  • I think this is intentional.

If you want to cut after joining, click on one of the videos and select Edit. This will take you to the edit screen where you can do the cutting.

  • In the first screen shot below, I have joined two videos. As shown, the scissors are greyed out. If you click on Edit, you will go to the editing screen shown in the second screenshot. There, both videos are shown on the Timeline and the scissors are active. I'll do a translation if you desire.

  • Thank you very much for your postings.

Now I have tried this also, the scissors are active and seem to cut in the advanced edit mode, but when I switch back to the content screen, the title is NOT CUT! It is the same title as before editing.

  • I’m verwirrt
    Very strange:

I have tried editing a title that has been imported from a file directly and was not joined or cut. In the content screen I can cut it, but in advanced editing it is not cut really. After cutting in the advanced mode, it cannot be cut in content screen, all the 3 tool buttons are grayed out. In the upper right pane of advanced window, only one title is shown and not two.

So it seems that there is a malfunction with the advanced editing that does not depend on whether a title has been joined or not.

  • After you cut, did you click on the Selection tool and then right click on the segment you want to remove and select "delete and close gap"?

  • From Help about cutting and trimming:

Click the left mouse button.°The clip is cut at the desired position. Both parts are listed in the content area.

The parts are not listed there.

  • Hi Walter-

I've been testing as we've gone along.

I started out in the Content screen of DVD, DVD-Video and imported a file. When I go from there to the editing screen and make a single cut and then go back to the Content screen, there is only one video shown. If I make the cut in the Content screen first, then it shows the separate parts. I also read the help file and I interpreted it to mean that it only applies to cutting in the Content screen.

  • I’m verärgert

I don't know who put "Geklärt" to my thread, I did not.

This should do only the thread opener and not any person who answered something.

  • I'll write in English-

Here's what I think they're trying to tell you-

When you cut a video in the Editing screen, the segments, including the cut portion, are still joined so that you have only one title. As a result, if you go to the Editing screen from the Content screen and cut, when you go back to the Content screen, you will still only have a single title.

To create two video files from the original in the Editing screen, you would make your cut and then remove everything from the right of where the cut started and then export the remainder to file. You then repeat the process but, after the cut, you must remove everything from the left of where the cut ended and then export the remainder to file. You will then have two individual files.

That is true but you don't have to do that the way they mentioned. If you right click on the gray area of the Timeline time scale, a box will come up. You can select Enable Workspace. That function will appear on the Timeline. Using the black markers, you can enclose any part of a video and export the enclosed part to file. You can then enclose another part of a video and export the enclosed part to file. Below is a screenshot which shows the "enable workspace" function circled in red. In that case, if I select export, only the portion of the video enclosed by the black markers will be exported.

However, I think they're ignoring the fact that you're starting out in a disc project, not make advanced movie.

In contrast to the editing screen, when you add multiple videos into the Content screen, they are not automatically joined so each video is treated as a single title. As a result, when you make a cut in the Content screen, the individual halves are treated as separate titles. In the following screenshot, I have imported a single file into the DVD, DVD-Video Content screen. I moved the postion marker under the preview window to a random point in the video. I then made a cut. As you can see, there are now two separate videos in the media area.

If you wish, I will run the translator.

    Wither,
thank you for the extended instructions about the workspace. This is a good idea for exporting parts of files. However, the problem of cutting is not satisfactorily solved.

I tried exporting a 30 min video and it takes a very long time. Directly cutting is rather more fast.

  • I can't explain why the cut operation doesn't work after joining files in the Content screen. The first option is to do all your cuts in the Content screen before joining. If you want to delete a section, make your cuts to create the new titles. Then click on the part (title) between cuts that you don't want and select "Delete".

The other option is to be go to the editing screen and doing the cut/export operations.

  • Hallo,
habe vom Support folgende abschließende Antwort erhalten:
    ____________________________________________________________
    _____________________________________________________________

Das heißt: Nero ist ein Video Editor ohne Trennfunktion!!!!!!!
