Burn Failures in AVCHD or Blu-ray Projects Caused By Button Placement.

This bug was discussed in topic Nerovision 14 crashes after finishing with transcoding the video with an "unhandled exception" error!. DWilks posted it and Wither 1 and I both were able to replicate it.

I've created a new topic here since that thread has become rather involved. In summary:

1. On the Menu Edit screen, if a button is moved so that the "red border" extends beyond the preview window, an error occurs at the burn stage in AVCHD or Blu-ray projects, but not in DVD projects.

2. As demonstrated in the video provided below, the Menu editor allows motion far beyond the "problem zone" (apparently a single pixel outside of the window) before preventing further movement.

3. The problem is not detected if the "Check Project" of advanced editing is clicked. This is probably not an issue since moving the button shouldn't cause a burn failure in the first place!

4. For these HD projects, the content is encoded before the menus. The burn failure occurs after the content encoding finishes. So, hours could be wasted before there is any indication of an error. (See DWilks' experience in the referenced topic!)

5. Here is an excerpt from the topic referenced above concerning the actual error indication:

I looked in the NeroVideoLog.txt file:

6. All true for Nero 12 Video also.

Finally, here's a 4 minute long YouTube video of the creation of both a DVD and an AVCHD project that demonstrates the bug. As noted, Blu-ray projects behave exactly the same as AVCHD projects in this regard.

So, perhaps one of the Nero employees can forward this along to the development team?

  • ChristianZ,

Time consuming? This particular issue takes less time to duplicate than it takes to read the post!

    Will this be fixed?

  • Nero 2015 Video Update

This issue has not been fixed in Nero 2014 Video and still exists in Nero 2015 Video. And, it's much easier to demonstrate since the project type can be changed on the fly!

What does it take to get these bugs fixed?

  • Nero 2016 Video Update

This issue has not been fixed in Nero 2014 Video, Nero 2015 Video, and still exists in Nero 2016 Video.

I was reminded of this by the same sort of nonsense in topic No menu audio Nero 16 . That's another issue involving AVCHD or Blu-ray projects that is non-existent for DVD projects.
