I’m frustrated

CD-DVD coping, downloading, streaming

I had nero installed. Also, had windows 10 installed since originally offered. My windows 10 disappeared along with all my files in February 2018. I finally received help from Microsoft to reinstall windows 10, however all my files were gone, had to reinstall all my programs. Now I have problem downloading video from streaming. I have no sound when I burn to cd or try to watch on pc. Changed speakers thinking that was the problem but they work fine. Still no sound when I burn to DVD. Also, I tried to copy a workable copy of the video on DVD and I have no way of coping to PC a workable Video. I just get two functions: audio and video. I am at a loss. Been doing this for 13 years and now this problem since my problem with my windows 10 system. please can anyone advise

  • Hi Wadda-

You have a whole string of problems to address. Not sure where to start.

Which version of Nero do you have installed? Is it up to date as determined by running the checks for updates from the Nero ControlCenter?

Are you saying that if you burn an Audio CD the disc plays with no sound either on your computer or in a standalone player? Ditto for a DVD-Video?

What does "watch on PC" mean.

What does "copying to PC a workable Video" mean.

I am using Windows 10, upgraded to Nero 2018 Platinum, it is updated. If I recode from MP4 to mp2 to be played on DVDs players I cannot play the DVDs on my PC. That is what I mean "watch on my PC." Now when I try to burn the DVDs I am receiving an error message " burn failed" after going through the entire process. I hope I see the reply from you. This is the first time I saw this reply.

  • First, if you used Burning Rom to burn mpeg-2 (or any other video format) to a DVD, all you will get is a data disc. Most standalone DVD players won't recognize them. Video files have to be authored to the DVD-Video structure and burned to get a DVD-Video disc that will play in all DVD players.

Rather than recoding to mpeg-2 (it's just an extra step), open Nero Video and select DVD, DVD-Video. Import your mpeg-4. Continue on to the menu editing screen and either accept or customize the menu or don't use a menu. Continue on to the burn screen and burn. This procedure assumes you don't want to do any editing.

Which Nero app are you using when you get the burn failure?

  • I’m sad, frustrated confused
let me start again. When I copy a disc (DVD) I try to play the video disc on my computer to watch on my computer screen. The only thing I see are two files, audio and video but these will not play the Video. What am I doing wrong, or what step am I omitting. I never had this problem till I upgraded to Nero 15. Prior to this I would put a DVD into my computer and it would automatically start to play. I hope I was explicite enough for you to understand me. Right now I have a DVD video I would like to download/upload to my computer to play in the future but cannot get it to do so. Can you help me, please? I am using Nero 18

  • Is the DVD you're copying a DVD-Video disc? If it is, there should be a Video_TS folder on the disc and the disc should play in any DVD player, as I mentioned above.

If the DVD is a data disc, all you will see on the disc is a video file, such as a mpeg-4 or other video format. This type of disc is not playable in most DVD players. You can drag and drop the file into any player such as Nero MediaHome or VLC Player and play it.
