Failing update of Nero 2018

Hi,

Step 1- Bought Nero 21018 Platinum and installed it over Nero 2017 as upgrade. The subject of this case - failing automatic update - discovered and I was unable to correct it.

Step 2 - Completely removed Nero 2017 from system, deleting all files and registry entries, restarted and Nero 2018 installed. Update failing also here.

What is happening:
Trying to install updates from NCC. It looks like it starts and finish downloading but after downloading when it starts to install, the NCC returns and error "při instalaci došlo k závažné chybě" (I am running Czech version), which  is in English "A fatal error occurred during installation" and no update is installed.

Step 3 - Tried to run NCC as admin, tried to delete download cache, no improvement.

Step 4 - Spent long time on Internet seeking for similar issue, verified all c++ .net and other libraries, everything is more than OK.

Environment:
Using Win10 Pro, version 1709, build 16299.192. 16GB RAM, 2x CPU, 16x core, Dell workstation with uptodate drivers and BIOS. Logged in as Administrator on standalone computer (no domain). having rights everywhere in the filesystem. Granted the rights to Nero program folders to install packages

Tell me, how to install the Nero Platinum 2018 updates

    If you downloaded the latest installation file for v2018 from nero.com, downloads, there would be no updates. If you didn't, I suggest doing that.

    Elsewise, you should contact tech support.

  • OK, downloaded the trial version - no other package available to download, 
    The version available on cleverbridge is identical to the one I downloaded when the software was purchased

    Tested the original install files from the time of purchase (28.12.2017) on other computer and they required update. Update failed there too.

    The version downloaded with the trial does not provide or require any updates from NCC.

    I deleted the Trial license from NCC and left there only my full license purchased 

    It seems everything works 

    Is there any link to download the complete Nero Plat 2018 package for classic installation containing the SW version from trial download ?

  • I'm glad it worked, however you shouldn't have had that problem. Since you won't be able to reproduce the problem any longer (I hope!), no sense in going to tech support.

    I don't understand your last question. In effect, the installation files for Platinum and Classic are the same. The features made available will be based on the serial number used. Also, Content Pack 2 is only used in Platinum. Hope that answers your question.

  • The trial version available for download currently is made up from small downloader which downloads the full package in the background once the install of trial is started.
    I would like to have the latest most current version of the complete offline installer - like the one which is provided after purchase of license.
    The trial version provided for download nowadays DO differ to the full version made available to me in December 2017 after purchasing of the license. (simple test - tried to install my December full package over the version installed along with trial and it says that I have already a newer version of product installed - so, logically, the trial version downloaded in January contains newer build compared to the one downloaded in December after license purchase).

    The trial version installed in January does not require any updates, while the full package downloaded in December DOES require updates, whose are failing to install.
    Again the trial version provided now for download must contain newer build of the Nero SW. 

    I would like to download the newest possible and most current build as full complete offline package for offline installation.

  • I recently purchased 2018 Platinum (two weeks ago). There were updates available immediately after I installed it, I got them installed and everything looked fine. Today, updates are available, I downloaded them, during installation, it failed (critical error). I have tried several times and NO success. I also had an issue with backup running. I DISABLED it in services. I have NO idea what it was backing up or where it was backing it up to.

    Has any one else had this issue, is it Nero's fault? I'm running windows 10/64.

    Installation Issues
