Hi, Will any of the 3 musketeers programs remove DRM in Videos? Thanks

I want to download some "Gunsmoke" episodes from Youtube for a video collection. I found out the later years are from DVD's that have Digital Rights Management still attached. My burner won't burn them. Can the DRM be removed using the Three Musketeers program? Re-selling is not involved in any way.
Thanks,

David

  • David-

Anything sold by Nero won't remove copy protection.

  • German law is consistent with international law in this respect.

However, there are some countries that don't follow international law requirements and do allow copying/burning copy protected material. I don't know how this is handled by the Nero software in those countries.

oldmickthejoiner should have some thoughts on this since I think that the UK recently enacted some legislation on this subject. I know he clarified it in another thread but I don't have time to chase it.

  • Hi David

I've downloaded from YouTube " Gunsmoke " Episode 21 Season 20. 43mins 07 secs long (WMV file) and burned to disc with Nero Video Platinum 2015 which plays OK. What Wither 1 is referring to is that now in the UK it is NOT illegal to copy a DVD but it is ILLEGAL to bypass the copy protection on a disc whether it's CSS on a DVD or Cinaavia on BluRay. What are you using to download? Does a error message appear? I use iSkysoft iTube Studio Pro and never had any problem.

  • Hi Mick,
Thanks for your interest and reply. I'm mostly interested in the first 8 years of the Gunsmoke series. The later ones are pretty much "done to death". I kinda grew up with the early shows. Our family always got together Sat. at 8:30-9:30 for Gunsmoke and Paladin. We had some great discussions afterwards as to the outcome of these shows.
I am able to download and record any of the first 6 seasons, but the shows in the 7th season are trouble. That's when they moved to an hour but still B&W, They download on mp4 fine and I can play them fine on the computer but when I go to burn them on DVD I get the dreaded "can not record" error message.
I use the SS code of savefrom.net to download and ComputerLite to convert and Burn. The burn operation is what fails. I'm not into BluRay.

    Regards,
    David

  • I'll try the last show in season 7 today. You should think about getting Nero Video as it will handle MP4 without any problems.

  • Hi David

I downloaded Episode 33 Season 7 " The Prisoner " in B&W with your video downloader: (funny name Ummy Video Downloader) in Mp4 format then imported and burned a disc in Nero Video without any problem. I think it could be your burning software causing the problem.

  • Mick,
I don't use Ummy. I resist all those advertisements with a purple passion. Too often you get garbage thrown in with your download, some downright dangerous.
Perhaps you are not familiar with the code ss. Ive had great luck with it.
When you start watching a video on Youtube that you want to download go to the address bar and insert ss in front of the Y on Youtube, (ssYoutube....). and restart the video. Give the system a few seconds to digest your request after reaching the new page. then click MP4 when it appears and watch the arrow in the above bar. It counts down the time it takes for the download. When it stops, go to your download directory on C: and there it is. I don't know how they do it but it works. Give it a try.

  • David I did a custom installation of the downloader and there is NO 3rd party software/malware on my machine , as we speak I'm downloading an 2 episodes of the TV series Anzac whereas my paid for downloader failed. Try Nero and your "DRM" problem will disappear as I think it's your burning software causing the problem.
ps: I also tried the SS code of savefrom.net and basically the end product is the same as ummy, both very simple to use.
