How to create .iso file with Nero 2016 Platinium (from already burnt media)

Hello I just bought Nero 2016 Platinium a couple of days ago.
One of the things I need to do (and that I used to do with former versions of Nero 2012) is to be able to (re)create an .iso file on my local HD starting from an existing physical media already burnt.
To do so, I first followed some recommendations seen on the Internet, i.e.
1- launch Nero Express
2- select: image, projects, copies
-> select: copy whole CD (or DVD)
-> source drive: my physical drive (where I insert physical DVD I want to recover associated .iso file from)
-> destination drive: same one (usually followed by [CD-R/RW] )
-> image file: enter 'path/filename'.iso and type="ISO image file"
then press Copy.
It then creates the .iso file (so far, so good) but Nero asks then for inserting a new media in the (same) drive, what I don't want (I don't want to copy a new physical media, I just want to create the .iso file)=> so I abort, what unfortunately causes the .iso file to be removed from HD. And I didn't find a way to tell Nero "please keep the file anyway, even if aborting" (such as an option to check or uncheck in those screens)...Bad !!....
In a second step, I tried another thing:
In the destination drive, I selected "Image Recorder" instead of the physical DVD drive => but I have no access/I can't select/modify any longer the image file field (which is greyed) and set type as .iso. Anyway, if I launch Copy, it looks like Nero creates an .nrg file and not an .iso (...and I didn't find where Nero stores resulting file on the HD, by the way).
Did I do something wrong ? If so, where ?
What should I do to create my .iso file starting from a physical burnt media ?

Thank you for your support.
Best regards, Denis

  • Hi Denis,
    In Nero Express ...

Expand the "triangle button" middle left of the main screen ...

With the DVD in the drive ...

    Select "Save Data Track"

Select the DVD track, select .iso give a file name and save.

Note: I have trouble with this if the disc is scratched a bit ... it needs to be a clean disc to work properly.

    In Nero Burning ROM ...

Cancel the "New compilation" ... Select the "Extras" tab at the top of the screen and again ... Select "Save Data Track".
