I’m frustrated

Nero 16 Platinum and ASUS BW-16D1HT compatible? Getting Error Message.

Error Message when burning data in Nero 16 Platinum using ASUS BW-16D1HT burner with latest Firmware. Tried both speed options 4x & 8x for Memorex DVD+Rdl 8x. Same burner and Media makes perfect Video DVD's in Sony's DVD Architect 6.0. Should I be returning my Nero 16? I can't find a solution anywhere!! I'm using the latest Firmware 1.01.

  • Wither, thank you for responding Sir. I've noticed you've been very helpful with everyone else's problems on this Forum.
I didn't write down the error message, sorry. I'm not too keen on burning yet another frisbee, is there a way to find my error log so I can look it up, instead of wasting another disc? My OS is Win 7 64-bit and I'm using Nero 16. Up until now I haven't been successful in finding that error log. I will try to burn another DVD if there is no other option. Hoping to hear back from you.

  • Ok, I finally found my error log, it was in Users/Admin/AppData/Roaming/Nero/Nero Burning ROM/Nero History.txt
So the error was "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once"
This error occurred twice, once at 4X speed and once at 8X. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Nero was installed as Admin. so it's not a permission's issue.

  • The error you mentioned is common but not the specific cause of the problem. Please post the contents of the log file here. You might have to reply more than once since there's a limit on how much can be contained in one reply.

  • Sorry for the delay Wither. Here is the log for the failed 4X burn. I can post the failed 8X burn as well, if you would like?

  • The problem is the "medium error". We usually recommend trying a different disc, a different batch of discs or a different brand of disc for this error.

  • Well as I stated above, I use the exact same medium with the exact same burner in Sony DVD Architect 6.0 and it burns perfect Video DVD's, wouldn't that lead a rational person to believe the problem lies in Nero? I'm not trying to trash your Product I've used it for years with absolutely no problems. I would have stayed with the version that has been so rock solid for me for years, but I'm in a situation where I have to back-up my Client's massive amounts of Full HD footage. I thought burning to double-sided Blu-Ray discs (50 gigs) would be the perfect solution. But if I can't even burn double-sided DVD discs, no way I'm going waste money on buying Blu-Ray discs that only turn into coasters. BTW, there is no option to burn at 2X's, it's 4X or 8X's only. And no I'm not running a RAID system, 1 SSD and 4 internal 3TB drives and 1 external 3TB drive. I guess this issue remains unsolved? I do appreciate your attempt to help me though.....it's a lot more than most other Company's would do.

  • You said you can burn a DVD in Nero so I don't understand the first sentence.

Note that I'm not a Nero employee but I've been in here daily for just shy of 8 years trying to help people. The log tells the story. Don't shoot the messenger. :D If you showed the log to tech support, they'ld tell you the same thing. It looks like the firmware for your drive is up to date so I don't think it's a LTH, HTL issue with the discs.

You hadn't previously mentioned anything about DL DVDs. There's been an occasional problem with that in Nero for the last two or three versions, based on the forum. I usually recommend that people contact tech support about that issue. The log says you're using a BD-R.

  • I'm certainly not shooting the messenger, I know it has nothing to do with you, and you're only trying to help. As I said, in my very first post, I'm using Memorex DVD+RDL, just so that is clear. I will try burning other medium. If that's the issue I'll report back. My point was, I have had complete success with the same medium and same burner in Sony's software. So that leads me to think it's a Nero issue.

I don't know why the log says I tried to burn a BD-R. I haven't even bought any yet, to test it. So far my testing has been limited to DVD+RDL, with no success I might add.
When I said I've had great success burning Data onto DVD's with Nero, that was referring to my old version of Nero 6, which has been Rock Solid for an extremely long time.
I had to update to Nero 16 for the express purpose of burning Double-Sided Blu-Ray discs. I was so pleased with Nero's past performance, that I never dreamed I would run into this nightmare! So I have to resolve this issue or reluctantly move on to an alternate Software Company. But I have to resolve this soon!!

  • So are you saying I should be trying to burn DVD- discs instead of +?

Perhaps I misunderstood you? When you referred to BD-R, you were referring to my burner and not to my medium, correct?

    • I just responded in the thread you started. I don't know if it's deja vu or what but Ron seems to be using the same internal drive as you are.
    • Haha, indeed he is...

  • Just to follow up on my topic. Today I successfully burnt Blu-Ray Data discs using Nero 16 my ASUS BW-16D1HT and Sony BD-R mediium. Burns were successful at 4X's, 6X's and 10X's so far. So that is good news, it was the reason I updated my Nero in the first place, to burn double-sided Blu-Ray discs. I still haven't been able to successfully burn Data DVD discs yet, but then I also haven't bought new medium to test either.
Is there a recommended Brand and type I should be purchasing?
